Policy regarding multiple characters? (in New players)

Zhate July 7 2007 11:33 AM EDT

I figured this was the best forum for this, instead of cluttering General. Besides, I'm still (kinda) new.

I haven't been able to find anything about it in the help wiki, so I'm wondering what exactly are the rules and proper practises of having multiple characters (note, not multiple accounts, I know those are forbidden). Of particular interest:

Are you allowed to use earnings from one character to boost another?

Do all your characters have to be in a clan if one is?

And finally, would it be considered bad manners to buy rares for an alternate that other's primary characters are bidding on?

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to answer, and potentially saving me from making a mistake :)

Multiple chars are fine - you only get one set of and regen of BA for all characters though so having two will not really benefit you.
Answers: Yes, no, no.

1) BA is per account, not per character, so using two active characters or more would be pointless.

2) No.

3) I don't see a point in buying items for alternate characters, so no that situation doesn't really happen

Thanks, that clears it up nicely. I hadn't realized BA was account based, so that in itself eliminates any chance of abuse.

Anyway, the reason I wanted to know was that I feel like experimenting with a new character, but I was unsure if it would be ok for me to transfer money and items over instead of earning it with the character itself.

And that's why those three points in particular mattered to me. It may seem pointless to have two active characters, but not to me. I'd simply like to be able to experiment some without incurring the stat loss of repeated retraining on my main character.

Not that it really matters to anyone but me, I suppose. Regardless, thanks again for clearing it up for me :)

People usually don't have multiple characters, because the 8/20 regen you're getting with Big Cats will be imposed on your new character.

Untrue, O'o Rly.

It's not, or? /puts foot in mouth

Zhate July 7 2007 12:00 PM EDT

That I did know. However, it's not really a problem for what I intend to do with it. If I ever want to get serious about a character, I'd certainly retire BC first to get the full BA rate.

But that's not gonna happen for a while - I'm still managing to pull 30-80% challenge bonuses most of the time so I'm pretty happy about how that character is doing, despite the admittedly huge mistake of starting with 4 minions from the get go.

actually, while it didn't used to be true, it is now...

BA regen is based on your largest active char...

QBOddBird July 7 2007 12:08 PM EDT

Ah, that has now changed? My mistake, O'o Rly. You can stop munching your foot. ^_^

<gasp> Finally.. Np OB!
