SC2 (in Off-topic)

Anyone psyched? I saw my first screenshots in a magazine when flying back to school, and it looks pretty neat-o. Zerglings seemed awfully big, but the marine bunker looked pretty fly. The landscapes and backdrops look like they are going to be eye candy.

Are there any other good sites other than blizzard and 1up to get caught up?

Psyched? I've been drooling for a little more than a month now!

But my video card won't take it I fear :(

I'm buying an Sli computer just to play this game.

I've been looking forward to this for a while. However, judging by the screenshots it won't require very beefy computer specs, probably LESS than world of warcraft. It's a very stylized engine but not a very polygon heavy engine. Makes a great appearance without dropping performance.

Less than WoW means good for my comp.

SC2 on my comp means Ash is very happy.

that's one thing I was hoping to avoid, having to buy another computer to be able to play it, because I'm sure I will without hesitation.

Saw the Korean launch video on spiked a while back, been looking forward to it since, the fact theyve kept all the old units and just added new ones hopefully means the perfect balance which was so crucial to making SC1 so popular has been maintained.

SC2 and Spore ftw

They better leave the SC1 cheats. I love blowing stuff up practically without any damage. Power overwhelming anyone?

hehe, i opened this thinking it was a Soul Calibur 2 reference :P

The new physics engine may cause it to run at least a little slower than WoW or WC3. Details look a little higher than WC3 from what I can tell. However, considering the army sizes look larger than that of WC3, you can expect higher requirements. Of course, as you know with most Blizzard games, you can tone down the graphic intensity to maximize performance.

There aren't any official computer specs, but I'd say a fair "test" for those who have World of Warcraft is how well your computer works in a 40 on 40 Alterac Valley match. The graphics engine LOOKS very similar, I doubt it's that different, and I'd say the units have ~1/4th the polygons of a high level Warcraft avatar. Physics is done on the CPU, and that's the majority of CPU work in Starcraft, unlike WoW where it does a lot of CPU based calculations. I'd say it's a "roughly" even trade off on raw CPU usage.

i really can't wait.

its been way too long. blizzard sure likes taking its sweet time.

now if only we could get some sort of Diablo 3. [it would have to be a prequel since the brothers are dead]

not likely though, since the people who made diablo 2 went on to make Arena.Net [Guild Wars]

its a shame :[
