I was just wondering...
Do the effects of Ethereal Chains and the Assassin's Crossbow have any consequence on Displacement Boots?

No. DB have no defensive DX, so its got nothing to reduce, it only reduces DX, DB are all PTH. They slightly affect Evasion, though, the defensive DX aspect of it.
That's one of the major weaknesses of the AxBow and EC spell. They only hit dex. With a +150 weapon, that still leaves an average of 1.5 hits per round even if dex is reduced to 0! That's why evasion and DBs are so nice, they deal with the +'s. A Large DB/evasion and an AxBow make a particularly effective combination. One reduces the dex while the other reduces the +!
