2nd Annual CB Fantasy Football League (in Contests)

Mem August 3 2007 11:58 AM EDT

Hey, folks! So that time has come again-- football season (NFL for you smarties out there)-- and we're all ready for it. That also means we're ready to begin the second annual CB Fantasy Football League! Due to cost considerations ($130 worth of them), CBS Sportsline is out of the question. I've decided that we will be using ESPN this year, which provides us with a free league that is infinitely customizable, has an online draft, and does live score updating. I've already created the league and sent email invites to those of you whose email I do have. Mikel, Peter Griffin, and Miandrital, I need your email address! As it currently stands we only have 7 members. I'd really like to get an 8th person to play, so if you are interested let me know. I'm totally willing to help anyone out with a loan for the league fee (2 mil CB).

Here are some rules that aren't listed on the league site:

Entry fee: $2,000,000 CB (due September 6th by 8:29pm EST)
Transaction cost: $100,000 CB (unlimited)
Transaction monies will be redistributed each week to the player with the highest score (usually each Tuesday morning/afternoon).
Draft is at 2pm EST on Sunday, September 2. If you cannot make it make sure you've edited your player pre-rankings to your liking. There will be absolutely no concessions made for players that are unhappy due to failing to make it to the draft for any reason.

If anyone has any questions please let me know, and may the best team win!

"Transaction monies will be redistributed each week to the player with the highest score (usually each Tuesday morning/afternoon). "

What does this mean exactly?

Also, I have registered and I am pumped!

Since I didn't play last year, what all counts as a transaction? Is it just a trade between players or is it also releasing a player and picking one up from the free agents?

Mem August 3 2007 4:13 PM EDT

A trade between players is a transaction, and a drop player and pick up player count as one transaction (so you don't have to pay for the drop and then pay for the pick up... it's all counted as one transaction).

Ok, the whole idea behind the transaction fee is to make some kind of contest within the contest. For example, if there are 12 transactions before the season starts, whichever team has the highest score between all 8 teams at the end of Week 1 will win 1.2 mil CB. And then there are 5 transactions between Week 1 and Week 2 (determined by the end time of Monday Night Football), the team with the highest score gets the 500k. And so on.

There's been a change in the due date for the money. The new due date is August 31 at 12:00pm server time. Please send all money to Fantasy Football. Thank you.

fixed your link so it shows up the same as the same theme as who ever clicks it :)

does that cut me a break on my entry fee......

Mem August 9 2007 12:32 AM EDT

Sure, you get half off, provided you make a donation of 1 mil...

Mem August 9 2007 9:38 AM EDT

Prizes will be as follows:

1st place: $14,000,000
2nd place: $2,000,000

I just sent my cash.

Are transaction fees won by the person with the highest score for that week, or by the person with the overall highest score each week? Also, would a 50/50 distribution of the fees be better? Half going to high score and half to the season's winner.

Mem August 9 2007 3:21 PM EDT

It's the overall highest score of the week. We're going to try it this way this season, and if it works out where there's a ton of money being spent on transactions we'll think about adding some of it towards the 1st place prize next season.

Money is due within 24 hours from now!

I've also paid, meaning that Ranger and Halcyon have yet to pay. So pay up!

is this football or american football?

Mem August 30 2007 1:22 PM EDT

You're not in the contest, so what does it matter to you?

Mem August 31 2007 10:38 PM EDT

In light of the server crash you have until September 1 at 12pm to pay up. If the 2 mil is not received at that point you will lose your spot and someone else will be given your place. Thanks.

Mem September 1 2007 2:51 PM EDT

Is there any other interest in fantasy football? We may be playing with 7 people because Halcyon (previously known as Valiek) has not contacted me at all, nor has he paid.

You've got until 2 pm Sunday, server time, to let me know.

Also, for all you guys that have already paid-- you can log into the site an hour ahead of time so that you know it's working. See you then!
