MMARPG: Need some help... (in Off-topic)

GO PATS August 6 2007 10:58 AM EDT

I may have written a post about this in the past but nowhere near as in depth as I will here... I just want to get it all out... Basically I'm hoping to have a little discussion about the feasibility and difficulty of building my own browser based web-game. So, anyone with any interest in either helping me out (not coding, but just with ideas and some help perhaps...) or interest in the topic of the game, I have loads of time and ambition to throw ideas around and get this thing actually created... I spend at least a few hours a day working on creation and much more time than that at least contemplating it.

Basically my idea is a mix of 1/2 Fantasy Football Manager Style Game-play and 1/2 Carnage Blender, but not based on Football but instead on Mixed Martial Arts fighting (Ultimate Fighting Championship, K-1, Pride, Etc...) It would be browser based, text based, complimented with a lot of art, and massively multi-player. (Fights will be simulated and presented in text format that is written as spoken by announcers... I have alot written down for this too...)

You would play the part of a manager of a stable of fighters who you help train and sign fights for. You create the fighters using a reasonably simple creation process (easy enough to use but with a smackload of options and complex enough for a lot of strategy... That came out wrong... basically, a novice could play easily and have fun and alot of strategy ideas will come from this...) You will also be promoting fighters and answering interviews... That's the 1/2 Fantasy Football style side...

Fights (and creation process) gain you EXP to put into your fighters stats... I have a good amount of info on this... You gain money to buy better entrances to fights (netting more popularity and therefore notoriety and more money in upcoming fights) and you can join player run training gyms to get more out of training sessions and corner men. That's the 1/2 Carnage Blender style (along with the browser based MMORPG aspect)...

Now... MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) for you that don't know is competition style fighting where various fighting arts got to test their skills against each other. That morphed into what it is today, where specialists in certain arts basically get whooped on by the people that train in multiple arts (striking, wrestling, submission fighting) because of their well-roundedness. Now people who know many different styles at once are going to battle with each other... It's a heck of a thing... I'm an addict.

So... I've massive amounts of stats and moves and text upon text about all this... Heres a little list of a few of the martial arts that I've included thus far...

Greco-Roman Wrestling
Jiu Jitsu
Boxing
Jeet Kun Do
Catch Wrestling
Shootfighting
Kick Boxing
Muay Thai
Tae Kwon Do
Karate
Kung Fu
Judo
Sumo... and some more... It's alot.

They all have their own strengths/weaknesses and stats and moves and feats... I have done so much on this game in the last few months that I really want to get it started.

Basically my whole question is this... what code should I try and use, I've had TCL recommended so far... but there's a problem... I can't code... in any language... so I want to learn something that will look good and isn't the most ridiculously hard thing ever to learn... I know I'll need Javascript in there as well, but that'll come after the basic code for the fighting simulator, me thinks...

Any suggestions or interest in seeing what I've got so far?
