Question on equipment (in General)

Do you think it is worth it to equip elven gloves or boots on a character with 1/4 experience on evasion, but all other experience on things the elven gear does not enhance? I have to weigh the extra PR boost to the skill boost and I'm not sure it is best.

Thoughts? When is the break even point? Surely if you are only training 5% of your experience in unmodified skills it is NOT worth it. Has anyone thought about this and come up with their own rule of thumb?

The main questions to ask is this: Can I beat anybody new (or existing who I draw to) by equipping these items?

A lot of people don't realise that they don't actually need huge amounts of equipment to fight well. If it makes no difference to your fight list or fight outcomes then you don't need them at all.

if the fees aren't too bad, i could let ya borrow my named boots and gloves to see what difference it would make.

Buy DB's instead of the EB's. Why? Because even if someone drains your Evasion with EC or an AxBow, your DB's will still have full effect.

However, the EG's can definitely help at a higher level. If a 10% boost takes your Evasion effect from +110 to +112, that's a +6 effect in the first round of ranged combat. If you look at how much it costs to add 6 points on a +150 ranged weapon (even 2 points for that mater), you will see that the EG's are more than worth it.

Apologies, the effect would not be +6 in the first round of range, but rather +3 or +4. Even then, that can be the difference maker considering ELB and MSB tanks invest very little time adding experience to DX anymore. Rather, they invest $$ into their weapons +'s.

The other thing I would consider is: how important is that evasion to your fights? Against tank teams if it is high enough then it's the most important thing right? So treat it as the favourite child and spoil it. Boost, boost, boost!

you cant drain evasion -.- just the defensive dex considering if the person can even hit you in the 1st place -.- its as simple as do i want my minion to evade all attacks or just some hence EB or DBs ;)

Talion August 7 2007 10:51 AM EDT

Are you certain that the Evasion effect does not drain along with the defensive DX? I thought they were directly tied together.

Even then, the DB's provide a much bigger Evasion effect boost than EG's unless you reach insanely high levels.

the effect eg (153) does not drain ;) just the defensive dex given by the evasion of that lvl

Thanks, dudemas, but I don't need the gear on loan. I actually have some EBs equipped on my evasion minion and was considering moving my EGs from my tank to the minion and slapping some TGs (which I currently have in rentals) on the tank instead of the EGs. But then I got to thinking about whether it was worth it. It pains me to add a .15 PR bonus per + on the minions TOTAL experience when I am only boosting evasion which accounts for less than 1/4 of the minions experience. I'm a mini-maxer at heart and hate to see such a waste. But is it worth it? Evasion is probably the most overpowered ability in the game for the experience spent, so it is probably worth it to thumb my nose at the tanks and particularly archers trying to nail him.

Since ST is 100x more important than DX on your tank, you should definitely exchange the EG for TG or BG. If you start having trouble hitting stuff, just add a few +'s on your weapons.
