Recent Wiki Changes (in General)

I thought that i should make a post here about it so that everyone understands.

The basic armor pages (tank, enchanter and mage) ALL said to use the same set for armor. This was repetitive and stupid to have to look at all three pages at once. Also it didn't really solve the problem of noobs not knowing what armor to equip.

So I had the idea of consolidating the pages into one Basic Armor Page. I ran the idea past NS, and he thought it was a good idea.

So of course after i was finished, i marked the obsolete pages as dead, because they were now useless, having been consolidated.

This thread's purpose is to get CB general's opinion on the matter. Its not really a big deal, but i woke up today and found that one of the pages I had marked dead and consolidated was back up and orphaned. Instead of having a wiki edit war, I made this thread.

Isn't the basic armor for tanks different than mages and enchanters? Uses like Steel Brig and other stuff...

I'm in agreement with scytale, after looking at those pages - one Basic Armor page would be a lot better than several pages basically saying the same thing with very minor differences.

We also need to sweep through that little 'Strategies' section. Or at very least a warning at the top of the 'Strategies' section that says "WARNING: players put these in as their own strategies, and they may or may not actually be worth anything. In fact, some aren't. Use at your own risk."

I'd have deleted several of them m'self already, 'cept some of YOU have put the strategies in there and I'd be deleting your strategies out. Don't want to hurt your feelings or anything, but hey, I've seen people telling newbies "Just don't go to the strategies section of the Wiki" - which probably means there's a problem there.

Good idea scy. I think we should also removed the advanced part from the names of the specific set, since there is no longer a basic set associated with each group. Thoughts?

I was going to do that last night mian, but i didn't feel like going and changing all of the links. I was too sleepy.

Ok, i renamed the pages, but before i did, i fixed the links that linked to those pages (the old pages--- Advanced armor). However this made unborn pages that weren't really unborn.

Can someone fix this or tell me how to fix this?

You did try re-editing those pages that link to unborn pages?

You're supposed to only rename pages. All pages that link to the same page will automagically update. Changing it yourself on those pages will (apparently) confuse Wiki.

Hm... i was warned against just changing the pages as that might break them, so to get around that i fixed the links first, then renamed the pages. Ill just rename in the future though.

Renaming pages has never caused any problems for me. I think jon is a better programmer than he gives himself credit for :P
