For anyone who didn't know there is a short ASCII version of Star Wars-A New Hope built into Windows XP.
Go to Run and type "telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl" (without the quotes).
I thought this was brilliant when I found it out, hope you guys enjoy it also.

Technically it isn't built in to windows xp since you are connecting to an external server using telnet. But it is still cool nevertheless

That's pretty neat, but I can't help wondering what a sad life the individual that created it leads...
wow. that must have taken forever.

I just ran into
this site, and it looks pretty much the same (I can't watch through both versions), except you can even fast-forward through parts which is neat.

BTW, they started it in July of 1997...it's been more than 10 years in production. ;)
I like the ones at ascii-art.net. Amazing stuff, especially JRR tolkien and Age of Kings areas.

Nope. I used aalib, a "graphics" library that uses ASCII for its output. There are a few demo programs for this library, one of which is an image viewer. I simply took a printscreen of that program's output.
What else is aalib useful for? Well, you can use it to watch TV in ASCII, or play Quake or Doom using it ;)
I would absolutely LOVE to play Quake in ASCII :)
