The RoBF (in General)

ScY August 31 2007 10:21 PM EDT

What it is now:

* Abbreviation: RoBF
* Damages melee attackers that hit, with fire. (similar to Guardian Angel) Damage returned seems to be about 10% tattoo level, pre-AC, etc. reduction. Damages attacker with every blow they deal.
* Protects against fire. Approximately 10% of tattoo level is absorbed per battle. (e.g. if you can absorb 10K damage, and take 10K in the first round, you no longer absorb any more.)
* Aura effect of 25%.

What could make it better:

* Abbreviation: RoBF
* Damages all attackers that hit, with fire. (similar to Guardian Angel) Damage returned seems to be about 40% tattoo level, pre-AC, etc. reduction. Damages attacker with every blow they deal.
* Protects against Direct Damage Spells. Approximately 40% of tattoo level is absorbed per battle. (e.g. if you can absorb 10K damage, and take 10K in the first round, you no longer absorb any more.)
* Grants evasion at 10% of tattoo level.
* Aura effect of 33%.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This makes the tattoo a very defensive tattoo, one which would give the ToE a good run for its money in terms of the best damage reduction tattoo out there.

In hindsight, this was wayyy to overpowered... maybe this will make it more balenced.

It used to give evasion, however the reason why that was removed was and still is valid today. If the RoBF does damage to people who hit, why would you make it more difficult for people to hit you?

The best way to improve the RoBF is for it to have some effect against ranged weapons, be it damage reduction or Flame damage.

I did add that in in my post--- read carefully between the second * of the -what it is not- part, and the -what could make it better- part.

Miandrital August 31 2007 11:01 PM EDT

Uh, what exactly are you talking about?

ScY August 31 2007 11:06 PM EDT

I am sooo tired right now-- but cannot sleep.

Wow, I'm soo woozy that I didn't even see that it said all attackers that hit with fire---- make that with any weapon, like a GA.

Miandrital August 31 2007 11:09 PM EDT

Oh, I thought you were responding to my evasion comment

I like the new idea , except change the protect against Direct Damage spells/absorb damage ToE/PL style to reduce opponents Direct Damage level.

sorry, the word Balrog makes me think Street Fighter II every time ;)

Actually I prefer it to be like this:

* Abbreviation: RoBF
* Damages melee attackers that hit, with fire. (similar to Guardian Angel) Damage returned seems to be about 20% tattoo level, pre-AC, etc. reduction. Damages attacker with every blow they deal.
* Protects against elemental damage (fire & ice only). Approximately 20% of tattoo level is absorbed per battle. (e.g. if you can absorb 10K damage, and take 10K in the first round, you no longer absorb any more.)
* Imbue fire damage to all physical attack successfully landed on enemy, approx 10% tattoo level, ignores any damage reduction.
* Aura effect of 33%.

This shouldn't be too drastic that they become the next over powered tattoo.

QBOddBird September 1 2007 2:19 PM EDT

Awwww...you made it another tank-favoring tattoo, Koala!

AdminNightStrike September 1 2007 7:30 PM EDT

I think the Fire Absorption part of the tattoo is not needed any longer, as FB is not exactly what it used to be.

QBPit Spawn [Abyssal Specters] September 1 2007 7:46 PM EDT

I think the RoBF should protect against ranged damage some, like the arrows/bolts etc are burned and weakened therefore reducing the damage that ranged weapons inflict

miteke [Superheros] September 1 2007 8:28 PM EDT

I still think it should add magical fire damage to a melee weapon strike from the bearer. That allows it to bypass normal armor and it means that you don;t have to hope someone uses a tactic against you for it to be useful at all.

Lumpy Koala September 1 2007 8:30 PM EDT

hehe come on OB, if my suggestion goes through, it's the tattoo for Hejin , you know that :P

Fanta [Fanta's Forge] September 1 2007 8:43 PM EDT

If the tank has to wear the RoBF, why use it over a ToA?
