An idea to improve the RoS (in General)

Talion September 17 2007 3:33 PM EDT

Ok, I admit I am a bit biased on this one because I am about to start a RoS based NCB. I also want to say that the RoS is my favorite tattoo because there are so many different ways to use it compared to other tattoos (except maybe the ToE).

This said, I have seen many threads mention the RoS being underpowered when it comes to its defense against DM.

After a few weeks of studying the best way to optimize my strategy, I came across one big barrier with the RoS regarding DM protection: Not enough protection from my DM for my offensive enchantments.

So I thought about this interesting idea that would only slightly improve the RoS, but would make it a lot more effective. Here goes...

What if the 25% protection granted against DM for offensive enchantments applied no mater how big DM was trained on the character wearing the tattoo?

In other words, if a character is using a 100K RoS, is training a 100K level DM and a 30K level AMF, AMF would have a 25K level effect on enemy minions (only 5K of level would get dispelled).

It's not a big improvement, but it would give the RoS the edge it needs to be a competitive alternative to the ToE and ToA.

Isn't this how it works now?

Not really.

As it stands, if you have a 100k effective DM and a 30k AMF with a 100k RoS, you would be left with a 30k+25k AMF level = 55k for DM purposes, and that would be completely dispelled.

Talion wants the protection to be basically automatic, and the RoS level would give you the level that your spells would work at. I'm not really sure how his idea would work if a EO is much larger than the DM though.

Actually you're all wrong. The 100k RoS gives 25k protection from dispel (effect). The 100k dispel that's trained on that RoS user, with an 80k effect, gets reduced by 25k. The 80k then becomes 55k, which nukes its own friendly 30k AMF, which casts at 0 (30k - 55k = -25k).

Now, based on that, how exactly are you proposing it be changed? Where is the 25% supposed to come in?

Nerevas September 17 2007 9:39 PM EDT

Nevermind Mian had it right, I just misunderstood his wording.

With the 25% suggestion though.. If you mean that any dispel regardless of size is reduced by 25%, that may not actually be much of a buff. At my level for instance, my tattoo being 2.6mil when MTL is over 4mil, I currently block about 500k. The biggest dispels at my level are only barely over 2mil effect, so that really would be a -nerf-

Just increase DM resistance. That's a needed change.

Or any sort of general buff would be nice! =)

I'd like to see the RoS get the added bonus of automatically casting a DM = to the level of resistance. It's not a huge boost, but it would save some experience that could get pumped into AS, or anything else for that matter.

The Space Knights was an RoS based team for a long time, it's my favourite tattoo as well. I just wanted to give the ToA a spin for awhile...who knows one day I might go back :D

Nerevas September 17 2007 11:39 PM EDT

I'd rather just see the dispel resistance upped a bit. Not much, 5% more (25-30) would be nice if nothing else.

"my tattoo being 2.6mil when MTL is over 4mil, I currently block about 500k."

Based on my idea, you could cast a 500K EC on your targets that could not be dispelled by your own DM no mater how powerful it would be. 500K EC is enough to reduce a lot of the top players' DX to 0. That means they do not get the 150% CTH granted by DX when your own DX is reduced to 0. It can make a big difference if you are using DBs or training a lot of Evasion.

Same with AMF. With 500K AMF, you are effectively defended against most trained Decay out there.

That is why I think it would give the RoS a small but significant boost.

"I'd like to see the RoS get the added bonus of automatically casting a DM = to the level of resistance."

I'd like to give this suggestion an award for greatness. Huge fan of this... it's very unique and wouldn't be THAT much of an improvement... well, actually maybe 15% of its level or something would be more reasonable but I am ALL for it!

Please?
