I voted give it to the hall of fame...

Uhm, what did I just vote for ?

AdminG Beee September 25 2007 6:31 PM EDT

...and who is Barry Bond?

QBBast [Hidden Agenda] September 25 2007 6:34 PM EDT

Bonds. Google, anyone?

Iluvatar[NK] September 25 2007 6:38 PM EDT

Vote for the asterisk gogo~

[MM] Theatre Of Tragedy September 25 2007 7:02 PM EDT

*is a huge baseball fan*

I think it should be blow up into a million pieces and his home run record. >=[

So number three is good.

Miandrital September 25 2007 7:05 PM EDT

Number 2 is just more satisfying though. That way future generations of baseball fans will know how big a cheat Barroid is.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] September 25 2007 7:18 PM EDT

An asterisk is cool, but an actual mention of the fact he cheated is waaaay cooler.

What a freaking loser. Like all those cheaters out there.

I sure don't look forward to the day the whole drug affair comes to the game of Hockey.

QBBast [Hidden Agenda] September 25 2007 8:59 PM EDT

"Comes to" or "is discovered in", Ash? ;)

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] September 25 2007 9:01 PM EDT

Either, I guess :P

ScY September 25 2007 10:06 PM EDT

Like drugs havent been in hockey for decades?

The Soviet Union Teams for example almost certainly used steriods, and the modern day steroids are DEFINITELY in the game today. If they're in baseball, they're in football, they're in hockey.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] September 25 2007 10:11 PM EDT

My illuuuuusions!

Oh well.

/me leaves a box of sugar pills in the Habs' locker room. (Hoping for a placebo effect.)

Slashundhack [We Forge Our Own Stuff] September 26 2007 4:50 AM EDT

What a pile of crap the guy is just doing a job . You people moan about a taxi driver using a car ? A soldier using a rifle instead of inserting it manually ? Bast using a ruler to beat some learning into a student ?Bonds isn't in the Olympics its a job. Any tool to do the job ! The guy is paying in a shortened life and I don't know what else .Eh my two cents.

Steroids doesn't make you hit the ball, though I have no idea who this fellow is, but he has to be skilled. If he can connect with the ball properly, it doesn't matter that much he can hit it to the moon because of steroids.

He has some skill.

sooka September 26 2007 5:37 AM EDT

rofl, what? Steroids gives you the muscle to hit the ball. Giambi, Mac, Bonds, Sosa, Can'Iwillratyouout'seco the generation of home run champions.

I'd asterix it. Bond's was so used this season I almost feel bad for him, only because he was an ex-Pirate. He was a gate-attraction until the record was broke, then the Giants dumped him quicker than a Nathan's hot dog champion.

Flamey September 26 2007 5:58 AM EDT

What's muscle got to do with it if you can't make contact with the ball?

InebriatedArsonist September 26 2007 6:08 AM EDT

If he can connect with the ball properly, it doesn't matter that much he can hit it to the moon because of steroids.

-Actually, muscle mass tends to make a difference in the distance a hit ball will travel. Using steroids to achieve a significant improvement in hitting distance can easily result in deep outfield hits and home runs, and by consequence affect the chance a team has to score runs and win games. Barry has shown an ability to hit the ball, sure, but he gave himself an edge by using steroids.

The ball should go to Cooperstown, as it is representative not only of the home run record but also of the greater steroid controversy. If the ball shows up at the hall with an asterisk painted on it, that suits me just fine.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] September 26 2007 9:33 AM EDT

hockey players would benefit much less from steroids, they need all around muscle performance, not the massive bulk that the drugs offer...

I also think that because individual performance isn't as important in hockey, it's less likely to produce the environment where it would seem you "had to do it" to compete.

drudge September 26 2007 11:53 AM EDT

its not just the fact that roids give you huge muscles is what helps them bomb it out past right field; it allows you to train longer, harder with minimal pain and minimum recup time. this in turn can make your muscles much larger faster, but it will also help all his other daily routines greatly as well.

i don't really know if roids can help with your eye sight/reaction time, but i do know a 90 mph fastball takes about half a second to cross home plate so you gotta be able to decide, in under a half-second whether its going to be a strike or ball and whether you turn on it or pull it.

he does have tons of natural skill and bat speed; maybe only vlad could turn on a ball quicker than bonds. but that was several years ago....he could have continued doing fine without cheating.
