strat idea: MM,SF,Junction (in General)

Maelstrom September 30 2007 10:28 PM EDT

I'm going for a low-cost single-minion team. The only $US I plan to spend is on supporter items. I have NSs, and I'll get an HoC tomorrow. They're both great for mages, so why not share them with a familiar by using Junction? The question is which DD spell. I want to avoid FB-splashback on both minion and familiar, so I'm thinking MM and SF.

So, single MM-mage training 1/3 HP, 1/3 MM, whatever is needed for Junction, and the rest in AMF. What do you think?

(I was away for the introduction of Junction, so I don't know about how it is really used...)

1 minion might not be the best idea because your SF will be infront and dead within like 2 rounds max lol

I've just started an NCB, and I'm not planning too far ahead at this point. Right now, an SF or HF seem to be helping me more than a ToE or RBF.

then you might wana try a SF with an evasion/AMF wall so that the SF is behind

Maelstrom September 30 2007 10:50 PM EDT

A wall is out, since that typically requires lots of $US.

Is Junction actually useful, or should I just focus on HP, FB, and AMF? Should I use Evasion instead?

the kind of wall mimic is talking about is an evasion/amf wall thus not needed much by the way of usd

Train 1/4 HP, 1/2MM, Junction (1/5 of the Familiar's level). Rest in DM, probably, not AMF - you want a quick kill + you'll get owned by GA otherwise without a ToE. Only problem is that you might need some DBs or else archers will kill both minions pretty quick.

Fanta [Fanta's Forge] September 30 2007 10:54 PM EDT

Perhaps Evasion, ToE, FB, and AMF is a better way to go.

Maelstrom September 30 2007 11:03 PM EDT

I always used to use a FB-ToE mage, so I'd like to try something else for a change.

DM is a good idea. I don't think I've used that before!
I could get some DBs later. Gotta have something on my feet!
And an evasion wall is a new idea to me. Possible, but I don't seem how it could be too useful. Would it train anything else? HP/AS, Prot?

Junction is very helpful both in letting your familar do damage, and keeping it alive.
SF on a minions training Junc/HP MM DM would be a nice simple char...but I know you well enough I think to know you'll find some way to make it interesting.

I like Fanta's idea: 1/4 HP, 1/2MM, Junction (1/5 of the Familiar's level), Rest in DM.

Also, I would use a Fire Familiar instead of s Steel Familiar. Your familiar will die quickly, so it might as well do some damage before that. Keep your MM level lower than your FF level to give yourself as much time as possible against Mageseekers.

Maelstrom October 1 2007 9:51 AM EDT

Hmm. FF is better? I suppose it would die quickly.

Anyone know if tattoo re-inking is still free? Jon hasn't been on yet today.

DM seems to be a good idea, but in practice, at such a low level, it doesn't seem to help as much as AMF. But I've changed it already, so I'll try it out.

HoC should be on the way ;)
