ok, Im thinking a base UC, supported by HG's, and combat Gi with an axbow.
1/3 hp 1/2 str max dx
IF you decide to be nice, I'll tell you what's wrong with this.

I'll also train some extra UC at later lvls
that'll help, you should be training it in a similar manner to how a mage trains DD (According to those who have done it before)...
The AX bow is the other big hole, you need serious damage and the SoD is the best choice for that. Are you planning on going single minion? Why the CG instead of a ToA, or RoBF?

and I though ax/exbows are good for monks?
Try using ToA with a SoD. It'll free up more exp for DM, which you definitely need with a sling, and UC too.
Using base UC with gi and hg is amazing for starting characters. There is no other way to get this sort of free xp - Unarmed Combat: 241,498/50 (23). I think it should be considered a bug and in need of fixing. I'm still using base uc at 300k mpr :)

Note that its not really "free xp" so much as the equivalent of using a big weapon. You don't get any evasion from that buffed UC so the only thing its doing is substituting for a weapon.

so will EB's affect UC from Gi and HG's? and why isn't gi and hg's in spellcheck?
no, the eb only effect trained UC
What makes you think you don't get any evasion Nere?

3) UC's Inherent Evasion. A portion of the Unarmed Combat level trained acts as though it were Evasion levels - this amount changes between Ranged and Melee rounds, and is affected by the Combat Gi. This portion is pre-item-bonus [3], so adding equipment that increase the UC level/effect doesn't affect the inherent Evasion level - only the Gi affects it, and it does so by increasing it by 1/3.

Well that's what the wiki says, but who tested it ? :P
If Rubberduck can use his UC to evade most tanks around his PR with Unarmed Combat: 241,498/50 (23) , then wiki's theory is not true.
I did test it, I'm dodging both melee and ranged against someone with 2400 dex with...
Dead Fish DX: 66 Unarmed Combat: 170,200/66 (16)
I do have +20 dbs, but that doesn't account for 0 hits over 15 rounds
I also have a MPB of 1500, with 66 STR...
It's bugged, but only down low... Sefton was on about this years back, I don't think we really need a fix. How could a fix be implemented anyway?
Nerevas pointed out it may just be the Gi that only has an effect on trained evasion.

Sefton also used a named bow that had hardly any nw for a very long time as he climbed up the ranks with one character as well.
Using the Helms/Gi's bonus is the same as naming a base weapon essentially, it just allows you to use a bigger weapon than the weapon allowance does; and without affecting your PR.
It's not a bug, it's just one of those things - like always being at your max tattoo level if you can - that affords you some extra advantage. I don't think it needs fixing either. Otherwise there's a whole pot of little advantage gainers that would need to be tweaked as well. For balance purposes....;)

ok, my new strat is 1/2 hp 1/2 str max dx relying on the axbow to lower dx so I can hit in melee
