In an effort to expand my portfolio (we're not talking stocks, bonds, and mutual funds here!) I've begun taking quite a bit of photos in IR (infrared) and UV (ultraviolet). What I would like your opinion on is whether or not I should update my website with a section devoted to IR and UV photography. Here are a few photos I've taken recently that I would most likely put on the site. I've got ones that aren't animals, but I thought a theme would be nice for the ones I show you guys! Without further ado:
Or are they too over the top?
I think that it is a good format that can amplify certain pictures and make some seem washed out. I really loved the first one, and I thought the cheetah and lizard were great too. But the elephants to me seem to wash them out. There is enough contrast in the other pictures between the animal and the background, but effect just blend the two together with the elephant pictures.
I liked them a lot though I'd say keep the UV and IR separated in their own files. Not sure about the tortoise head though .First two are my favorites. Boy its easy to forget how hairy elephants are.
After studying "Howard the Turtle" I realized the angle was too acute to see enough of the mouths curve. Also the shot maybe would of been better more focused on the eye and even closer or backed off and being able to see more maybe all the neck .The other three gave me all I wanted "Howard" paled in their company.Saying all this I should admit I always have had an interest in photography but i like the hardware more than the art.I imagine my "spit balling" isn't much help due to that.LOL
I agree with SP, while the pics are very good I find the first elephant one a little too abstract, took me a little while to focus and see that it was an elephant.
There's this crazy thing about animals, Slash. They don't understand what to do when you ask them to turn around for you. I've got several more shots of the tortoise (they're not turtles!) from different angles, and that one was, by far, the best of the bunch.
Is this really all the feedback I'm going to get? Sheesh...
I have never been to your website, but if these don't fit in with the rest, you should definately make a new link. And besides, all it takes is a few differences in coding, not like its a huge deal to make a new one. I would see what kind of response you get, if anyone goes to look or not type thing. If noone does, put them back with the rest. Geez can noone read what he wanted an answer to?
Hey Mem, check out my pics: http://flickr.com/photos/verifex/
If you have a flickr account, lets exchange info it's always nice to meet a fellow photographer, especially one that is a pro!
