Idea for NW limitations (in General)

Talion October 17 2007 3:33 PM EDT

This has probably already been discussed before, but I think it would be a good idea.

I looked at normal items statistics and I also do not think it could be implemented in CBII, but at least it is food for thought...

What if every item had a max statistics cap on the +'s and x's just like ammo?

Don't ask me about specific stats, I am just throwing this idea out there to see what the reactions are.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] October 17 2007 3:38 PM EDT

Infinite +'s and X's = I do what the heck I want with my items.

Not infinite +'x and X's mean I cannot.

Just as with the USD to CBD trades, I'd like to be able to do whatever I want with my "possessions" on CB.

It WOULD maybe bring a bit of balance. Just as a no Xfers rule would. But to exchange that balance for my relative "freedom" is...errr, not an option in my book. Just me, though.

ScY October 17 2007 3:39 PM EDT

Weeelll, every item doesnt have x's. And there is already a cap on the + (though it isnt a direct cap, every single item has an exponential growth multiplier to its + so that it eventually costs too much for you to add anymore +'s to it --- if confused please see MgS)

Ammo is different, and the cap is there to prevent massive ranged damage (if confused see Conundrun-- MPB)
IMO:

No!

Don't limit. However, DO do a better job of showing net worth in PR. At this point, with the low PR factors on armor and the Weapon Allowance, I sometimes wonder what the point of the PR-NW linkage is at all. I am back to the whole CB1 state of mind: "Oh, THAT'S why that person does so well with such a tiny PR -- they have massive net worth!"

All I care about is having power properly displayed, and folks who depend more on MPR than NWPR are still getting screwed.

Hehe. Silly elbs and morgs. Hiding behind WA. How cute. How very, very cute. Kind of like a rabbit. That's ripping your face off. =D .... Or maybe a ..

easily solved... kill weapon allowance and lets leave it at that :) or make something called equipment allowance (includes weapons) and still kill weapon allowance

noneedforthese October 17 2007 9:59 PM EDT

Equipment allowance shared by armour/weapon sounds cool... But if it's as high as WA is now, all that'd do is lower the PR of most of the top dogs ;)

lostling October 17 2007 10:00 PM EDT

and make you have 0 PR increase which would increase your reward :)

Power is relative to the team being fought Sut...against you my dbs do nothing, but against an evasion tank with an MsK it's the deciding factor. I don't think NW-PR is ever going to make PR what you want it to be. Even MPR doesn't tell you everything about the power of a char in comparison to yours, take Koy against NWO; NWO has 1/4 of the teams power sunk in to DM, which does nothing to Koy, Koy in turn has massive XP into EC of which all but 40 levels have no effect at all. The minion power rating for those two teams against each other is much much lower. Adjusting NW-PR back to where it was in it's early days will accomplish the same thing it did then, crushing the rare item market like a bug. Because of the complicated nature of CB, MPR, PR, and score are very good at what they do (show the amount of XP trained, and the size of the tattoo compared to the char, and how specific or general the strat is) and not able to accomplish the near impossible task of correctly judging how your team will fare against any other.

QBsutekh137 October 17 2007 11:52 PM EDT

And against a team with no DEs my DM means nothing.

I am 100% consistent here, novice. I am not making scenarios or grinding some piece-meal axe. I am saying that, overall, average power should be displayed. MPR _always_ is part of PR, even if AMF is useless against tanks, Evasion worthless against mages, or DM uses against non-DE sucklers.

But a weapon inside the WA _always_ dodges the bullet. That's bullroar.

It CAN be judged. NW has a number, just like MPR. Except MPR all counts toward PR while only a small fraction of NW counts.

QBsutekh137 October 18 2007 12:09 AM EDT

And at this point, if Jonathan wants to just do away with NW-PR linkage, fine by me. But don't pay lip-service to it but have it be wildly inaccurate. Let the tanks run rough-shod over everything and then adjust from there. At this point, however, NW is not depicted correctly in PR (in my opinion).

lostling October 18 2007 12:15 AM EDT

change weapon allowance into equipment allowance and cut it in half

QBsutekh137 October 18 2007 12:21 AM EDT

In keeping with a comparison to Koy (as novice mentions):

Comparing Hubbell's stats as a percentage of Koy's:

Tattoo level:
3,281,974/4,929,332 = 66.6%

NW:
132,793,474/504,278,184 = 26.3%

MPR:
2,766,482/3,162,630 = 87.5%

PR:
3,784,187/4,549,325 = 83%

So, I have 83% of Koy's PR even though my tattoo is only 2/3rds of his, my PR is around the same ratio, and my NW is a paltry 26.3% of his.

And his "power" let's him beat everyone in the game and run a 10,000+ win streak without his muscles even showing out his shirt. Damn, that must be nice.

Nerevas October 18 2007 12:35 AM EDT

Subtract the NW of his weapons, and the NW difference of your tattoos (since you're basically counting that twice) and its not as bad. He probably also has unequipped items.

QBsutekh137 October 18 2007 10:36 AM EDT

Subtract the NW of his weapons? Hm? That was my whole point... The WA let's the weapons hide, and I think it's too much.

You are right about the tattoo/NW ratios somewhat double-dipping. Still, just wanted to show that while our MPR ratios and total PR ratios are not that much different, NW ratio is massive.

Whether or not he has unequipped items, I don't know. Ranger usually tries to keep it as lean as he can.

Dark Dreky October 18 2007 12:25 PM EDT

I have stated (along with Godwolf) about this before... WA is absurd. I am ALL for an equipment allowance! Keep tattoo PR increases the way they are (because everyone uses them) but do away with WA altogether!!

I smell a survey... :)
