First off, why are the UK and US activation keys differently priced [the UK one being higher]? Is there any difference in the game-play?

I'm thinking of downloading the game with the 10-day free account and then using 30-day prepaid card, and online payment, etc. Will I need to buy any other boxed CD/DVD, or is the download sufficient [with the activation key from the prepaid card of course]?

Lastly, are there any of you from CB2 out there in WoW, if so in which UK/Eur or US servers?

wow has always been a game that has been sensitive to lag in my experience. with that being said i would choose the servers that are closest to you geographically to eliminate as much opportunity for issues as possible. i play it occasionally, but atm i am revisiting city of heroes.

ouch, the installation file is 3.16 GB!

Well... After you download the initial game, don't plan on playing right away as you'll have to download tons of patches.

As to having to buy the actual CD/DVD, I don't THINK you have to. I think the 30 day-prepaid card is sufficient. When you're on trial you can't trade with people and such, but there is no trial VERSION of the game, it's just a trial account. (If that makes sense.) However, if you plan on getting the expansion, Burning Crusade (BC for short), you'll need to either go online and upgrade your account via credit card, or buy the actual box. I say upgrade your account because that's what you're doing. You need to buy a BC-key for each account you have.

As to the difference in pricing, I have no idea as to why, but I think you should play on servers that are located closer as Dudemus said. Any online game isn't fun with constant lag.

I have played wow over a year and a half and only get occasional lag. not constant. I wouldn't know why the keys are priced differently. I play on the US server Turalyon. Have fun and try it out. From what I have noticed people either love the game or hate it.

... I said he should play on servers that are closer to him to minimize the lag. I never said everyone gets constant lag. I used to play as well and there is barely any lag. Even when you go into the main cities where everyone is crowded together, and your game gets choppy, that's not lag, it's a decrease in fps...

The UK one costs more because they have to add extra Us to the armour etc :)

nice one that, Jon, hope the extra "U" adds more into the glamour quotient too ;)

I've played WoW on and off since release, and only rarely have problems with lag. As long as you have a decently outfitted computer and cable internet you are set for this game. I'm not on as much anymore but I have characters on Balnazzar and Daggerspine. For the Horde! =p
