It seems I'm having problems with solo and team fb mages, any tips? I have a solo mm mage. Is protection worth it or should I just stick to dispel magic, hp and mm?

A base protection is worth it. If it's larger than base, stop training it. The benefits are not much.
I prefer FB over MM for single mages. It also combines better with DM.
You'll get more balanced as your MPR increases; currently your protection [even at base] is disproportionally large.
