Are there some bugs or is there an explanation? (in General)

Mr Vengeance October 27 2007 5:56 PM EDT

Something seem to be wrong here:

The initial position:
My Halidon Familiar Team : "Spirit of Halidon Hil" fights "devil Hulk"
Special attention to all stats of the Halidon Familiar!!
The Halidon Familiar I have equipped has a level of 1,185.
The familiar-wearing-minion "Sir Archibald Douglas" has NO items equipped!
There are no DX or ST penalties from any item or any enemy spell.
In the fight neither Archibald Douglas nor Hal got any damage.
Here are the fight stats of a fight with no junction trained on "Sir Archibald Douglas"

Less the HP's the HF got from the AS there are 432 HP's left for the HF. That are about 36% of level.
The HF's strength is unaffected and has about 55% of level. So far so good.
Now have a look at the Haste casted and the DX the Halidon Familiar has...There seem to be no association!?

The next picture shows the stats of the same fight with a base junction trained on "Sir Archibald Douglas".
Still NO items!!!

As one can see, all the HF's stats changed almost randomly!?
As far as I understood the function of junction (three cheers for the rime!!!)
nothing should change, as far as no items are involved!?
Still no reason for the low DX

The last pic with the stats of the same fight but with junction at 1.00 effect:

Again: all stats in a tumble!!!!

Questions now:
-What is wrong with Junction, or what is wrong with me that I don't get it?
-What is wrong with Haste that it has no, or in this case a negative effect on Halidon Familiars?
(it actually does have the designated effect in other fights with the same team!!)

Thank you for explanations, help, rectifications ...

All ranged weapons receive a penalty in melee combat, which includes your Hal.

Iluvatar[NK] October 27 2007 6:21 PM EDT

horseguy: that wasn't his point. He was trying to get an explanation for the bizarre stats on his Halidon familiar.

I have no idea, to be honest. As far as I understand Junction to work, it shouldn't affect the familiar at all if you have no other items equipped.

Mr Vengeance October 27 2007 6:22 PM EDT

The Team made it to the first round of melee in ALL 3 cases!?!

I have no explanations, help, or rectifications. Still, I must say, that is a very attractive post. You should teach everyone to do that.

*sigh*

Yes it was his point. Let me elaborate further:

Any minion or familiar that only has a ranged weapon equiped that lasts into melee combat will have the aforementioned dex penalty displayed. Now looking at the 24 hour battle summary, most (if not all) fights went 4 rounds. Due to no HoC, this means they went to melee, which would explain why there is a discrepancy in numbers.

Although I can't explain the oddness in a base junction lowering dex, but the melee penalty to ranged explains everything else.

Sorry for the double post, but try fighting some people that you can off in 2 rounds, and see what effects you get with junction at 0 and 1.0 on your Hal.

Mr Vengeance October 27 2007 6:40 PM EDT

@ QBBast: You are mocking about my fancy post aren't ya?! ;o)

@horseguy001: I think I see. There is no missing Haste effect but a melee penalty for the HF in all of the fights!? That makes sence...
I'll fight a few to see...

Junction at lower than 1.0 has weird effects on STR and DEX, but as Hatch says... the issue here is dex penalty for using a bow in melee.

BootyGod October 27 2007 6:43 PM EDT

Is junction 1.0? If not, that's responsible for DX penalty, regardless of whether you have items equipped or not. I made a post about it regarding my SF when using junction and my DX was 0 and it made no sense. Not sure though...

Horseguy could easily be right though. DX of Hal + Haste/2 from DX penalty in melee and the numbers are probably identical.

Mr Vengeance October 27 2007 7:04 PM EDT

Junction was at 1.0 for sure.

I just played around with it a bit. It confirms horseguys explanation about the Dex penalty.

That just leaves the question if a junction at 0.35 is supposed to cut down DX and ST to 40 - 50%?

However the the big where-is-my-haste-mystery seem to be gone!!

Thx Dude's

This happens to me also. I hajve a hal familiar equpied to a 1.0 junction with GS and Haste and my str and dex go up and down like crazy each fight with no EC ex/axbows effecting my stats.
