GA question (in General)

Adminedyit [Superheros] November 11 2007 8:34 PM EST

I was reading this in help earlier
"GA damage type is the same as that for which GA is retaliating."
now does that mean that GA from FB deals FB damage back? or does it mean that magic GA is magic and weapon GA is weapon?

GA retaliating FB will deal back magic damage, so it is reduced by only the + on your armor; retaliation damage on weapons will be reduced by all AC.

ok so its not damage specific then ty

In that case, GA is even worse for mages than people already complained about since a GA bouncing back 100K might only do 20k to a heavily armoured tank, but would do nearly the full 100k to a mage.

Yukk - it has always been this way, and I haven't seen nearly as many threads on GA damage (compared to evasion, ranged damage, RoBF, DD damage).

in fact, I don't remember seeing any threads on GA damage recently, but excuse me if I've been living in a hole.

There is some question about this, the wiki has a caveat about damage type. We need to test it further.

Well I guess it balances out a bit because DD ignores base AC... then again there's MgS and EH and stuff =/

"GA damage type is the same as that for which GA is retaliating."

Lets not forget the small comment in italics that has been appearing next to that line for as long as I can remember: "(damage type is currently contested)"

This comments has been there for a while and a few recent threads which I will not search for right now have yielded test results that seem to give more weight to that little comment in italics.

I personally think that one day Jon will just let everyone know that GA damage does not vary according to damage type (just like he let everyone know that the old RoBF did not have a fire damage absorption cap as was implied in the wiki).

However, I have not tested this for my own. Rather, I base my assumptions on test results posted by other users who have more experience using GA.

Well having AC definitely helps against GA for a tank. I doubt the effect is even noticeable on a mage, except maybe Spawn's
