Upcoming Changemonth (in General)
So, with the upcoming nerf to RBF, and lets be honest, with all the whining and complaining of how its overpowered and how it should be nerfed vs finding ways to improve the other aspects of the game, it more than likely will be.
My only request for the next changemonth is that when you nerf the RBF Jon, turn it back into a cloak so I can still feel a little happy about wearing it with armor this time.

Don't think you can predict Jon's changes or when they will happen...it took for EVER and a lot of whining to see the NUB fixed.
But I do think it would be nice to have the RoBF as a cloak again. =)

That does sound interesting. I wasn't here for that (i don't think).
Did it provide base AC? How did it work in a nutshell?

Originally it was a "Holocaust Cloak" (Think Princess Bride) that provided defense against Fireballs and did reflective damage against melee attacks.
It was soon changed to "Cloak of Balrog Flame" and some tweaks were made (Blacksmith only, -100% to enchantments)
Over time, various experiments were done to it - and that's where it is today.
It was always 0 base, and + never added AC as far as I can recall.

Holocaust Cloak! I love it...
No more rhymes and I mean it...
anybody want a peanut!
does sound interesting though. I wonder if it'll change significantly. If it's already been through so many changes and they didn't work much before, they might not work now. ;)
thanks for the info!

Fun fact: I believe it was renamed because it could've been offensive because of the holocaust that happened in world war 2.

Some of my own ideas for RoBF changes:
1.) Get rid of the "You hit them with you massive DD spell for 0 damage!" Just make the damage reduction percentage based or something. It's silly the way it is now.
2.) Reduce evasion bonus to 1/5th or 1/4th
3.) Make the RoBF cancel all enchantments cast by the wearer. Why? Just for fun!!
4.) Boost RoS DM resistance! Wait. That has nothing to do with the RoBF. Woops!

One caveat to nerfing the RoBF's evasion:
keep the RoBF's evasion effect against ToA boosted opponents, since its basically tattoo versus tattoo
similarly, the RoBF's DD protection can be maintained against familiar's even if the DD protection against mage's is nerfed.
The principle should be to keep the RoBF tattoo potency on par with the other tattoo's, else it will again lose its utility.

How many people actually believe the RoBF will get the nerf, and how many out of that group believe that the change will be significant enough to render it useless?
give single minions some loving.... FB mages to be precise ^.^

Knowing Jon, he'll always do something unexpected and absolutely aggravating to the general mass. Attempting to predict what he will do is futile!! I'm brimming with anticipation :).

The RoBF is turned to a POWER SHIELD.
Shield of Balrog Flame
It shoots fire (massive automatic DD) and reduces all attacks
magical or otherwise by 70%, indirectly nerfing the VB!
Base armor (30). Each (+) adds to armor class and adds
10 % per to evasion.
You heard it here first.

unlikely, j'bob. If it were to be anything other than a tattoo, you can have a bonus tattoo installed, say a steel familiar...also, the RoBF damage effect is dependant on max tat lvl which won't work as a power shield.

Power Shields cannot be used on a minion that has a tattoo or shield equipped.
^ from wiki.
Either way, I take full responsibility for the fact that my sarcasm was
lost on many people. Sorry folks.
(seriously, my humor doesn't always reach the masses but it entertains me)
Another tattoo could be added on a different minion, j'bob.

sounds like a great item jbob :).
Add this for fun: reduce all ed effects to 0 and leave hp at 1! No risk no reward right?

this is no time for sarcasm, j'bob, my good man....my char's teeth are doing the rumba-sumba on each other what with all this talk of nerfing our very life and blood, the massively overpowered RoBF ;)

LOL!!! I like chuck. A lot.
Wait, at least I did for 27 seconds or so there...

perish the thought, mate....the RoBF is "massively overpowered", but if nerfed, it merely becomes a toy, worthless again.

I do pretty well against other RoBF enchanter teams my size, and I'm just a lowly single minion melee-only tank. Once their Evasion gets too big, I can't hit them, but heck, I'm non-ToA and non-USD...;'P

there's a named ToA in store just waiting for you to try out and find the difference, QB OOB, but if you don't like it, it'll set you back almost a mil between the "buy from" and "sell to" store price.
