Tournament News and T24! (in Contests)

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] December 2 2007 11:58 AM EST

Tournaments will now be moving to a once per month setup, one tournament per month will be held, usually the normal length of one week.

Because that will leave me with extra prizes, threshold prizes, where anyone who passes a certain landmark will get a prize, will be happening.

T24 will be the first tournament to follow this model;

T24: Renovated

Rules:

Win conditions:

Prizes:

1st place) An Amulet of Invisibility [0] (+10)
2nd place) A Pair of Noldorin Spellcasters [0] (+10)
3rd place) A Helm of Clearsight [-5] (+5)

OR the winners may pick between 3 million for first place, 2 million for second, and 1 million for third.

Threshold: 100k to every participant who passes the MPR threshold if 10 or less people pass it.

50k if 20 or less pass

25k for more than 20.

The specific amount will be kept secret, it will be a percentage of the top MPR, at least 50%.

48xVanished48 December 2 2007 12:06 PM EST

Sounds fun! Good idea Slayer

NINAbuser December 2 2007 2:14 PM EST

Dang competition thrown out or what? This limits competition a lot in my opinion because it seems like people can win regardless of how well they play >.>. O well lets hope this increases the number of participants!

Fanta [Fanta's Forge] December 2 2007 2:57 PM EST

How would this limit competition? The win conditions are pretty clever IMO.

QBOddBird December 2 2007 3:23 PM EST

I agree. That is the smartest idea I've ever heard of. You should win the Nobel Prize for coming up with it. Or get a hamburger, or something. ;'D

NINAbuser December 2 2007 3:42 PM EST

Clever but again it's just going to be like the last few tournaments except any guy who want to come in and train say junction gets a chance to win one of the 3 prizes? Seems like anyone who puts enough into 1 skill that isn't really tourney-wise can win vs the people who actually are putting forth the effort to win by making strategies. Unless of course you want to make the argument that it is a strategy in which case I can't really say anything.

QBOddBird December 2 2007 3:55 PM EST

NINA - is it better decided by the easily inflatable and abusable score alone? item-adjustable PR? Besides, each attribute/standing gets *a few* entries. We're talking hundreds of entries total into this raffle.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] December 2 2007 4:32 PM EST

i like it as well. i think we could at least give it a chance before we decide how good or bad it might be. way to think outside the box slayer!

NINAbuser December 2 2007 4:46 PM EST

I never said it was bad I just feel that those of us who actually try to play during these tournaments may be getting a bum rap by those who just sit there with 1000 fights and never try to better themselves. If it works then good for us I just personally think it gives those who actually play well dang something I can't think of that is bad.

QBOddBird December 2 2007 5:17 PM EST

I know what you are saying - people can get raffle entries by simply training up a single skill like Junction to the top without any regard for strategy.

But get top PR, MPR, Score, and a couple top Skills (which involves effort and strategy) across the board for, say, 3 minion teams and you've got quite a number more raffle entries than that person, greatly increasing your chance to win.

However, it also gives a smaller winning chance for people who don't want to be on 24/7 defending a spot across the board.

NINAbuser December 2 2007 6:18 PM EST

O dang I was confused I thought it was another point thing not based on #s ughh my bad still don't like it though >.>.

Ulord[NK] December 2 2007 7:27 PM EST

Good cap. Interesting concept. Count me in once again :).

Rubberduck[T] [Hell Blenders] December 3 2007 1:11 AM EST

I think it is a good idea. How about keeping the thresholds secret and giving prizes to a % of players over the threshold so that it is not just do this get that sort of thing. Mix it up, some tournies just have 1 random prize per day etc.

NINAbuser December 3 2007 2:47 AM EST

I suppose we're going to start moving to the Special Olympics soon too and just award everyone a prize for participating? If you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen guys.

][Army][MrWizard06][ December 3 2007 10:40 AM EST

dang i wanted to be in this one too but i cant ill be in GA for about 4 months for BCT and AIT good luck in the tournament for all who enter

Victim December 16 2007 11:39 PM EST

If we are only going to have one tourney per month, why not have the tourney time last at least 2 weeks so people who don't have a lot of time to play can hit the BA cap without resorting to the use of illegal stimulants.

Ulord[NK] December 16 2007 11:57 PM EST

So you can't pull of two sets of BA a day? Once before bed, once after bed. 360*7=2520. Being accessible is one thing but 2000 BA a week is really quite minimal in term of dedication.

Flamey December 17 2007 1:04 AM EST

160 + 160 = 320

320 * 7 = 2,240

Ulord[NK] December 17 2007 1:13 AM EST

40 extra bas for after breakfast and before dinners. It works out :D

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] December 30 2007 10:51 AM EST

Reminder: Tournament starts in two days!

Prizes have been updated!

QBBarzooMonkey December 30 2007 11:01 AM EST

I never saw this thread when it was originally written, but I have just 1 word for it now...

Brilliant!
:)

GummyBear December 30 2007 12:22 PM EST

Good idea IMO. Looking forward to participating in it :)

Brakke Bres [Ow man] December 30 2007 12:22 PM EST

1st place) A Helm of Clearsight [-5] (+5)
2nd place) A Pair of Noldorin Spellcasters [0] (+10)
3rd place) An Amulet of Invisibility [0] (+10)

uhm I think you should change the AoI and the HoC places, AoI are much more valuable then hoc's. Or I'm aiming for the third place :)

Angel of Death [Hell Blenders] December 30 2007 12:49 PM EST

can we use tats and are all skills and spells allowed?

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] December 30 2007 3:31 PM EST

all items and skills and spells are allowed.

Ulord[NK] December 30 2007 3:59 PM EST

Is RoBF allowed?

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] December 30 2007 4:13 PM EST

yep

Synge [Memento Mori] January 1 2008 8:45 PM EST

This might be a bug, but I'm not sure, so I'll post here and ask first: at 8:35pm, i had taken my Tourny char down to 0 BA, so I was switching around between him and my main. 8:45 rolls around before I try to spend my BA that I got at 8:40 when I noticed that my tourney BA had jumped from 0 to 160. (My main got ~2 BA on that refresh...) Is there some tournament reason why I got 160 BA in one refresh, or is that a glitch?

Synge [Memento Mori] January 1 2008 8:53 PM EST

After looking at a bit, and seeing it happen again, it looks like this is a server roll-back. I noticed my xp and money and battles fought all went down when my
BA went up. I hope that this does not portend any problems.

[LittleRed]Calynne January 1 2008 9:27 PM EST

I had some trouble with mine too... just BA not showing up when it should, and switching between tourney BA and real BA.

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] January 1 2008 9:34 PM EST

I wasn't around when this happened, but it may just have been a server issue - nothing on my end could have caused this (I hope :p)

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] January 1 2008 11:08 PM EST

i just came back after a couple of hours and had fought through all of my ba only to have it back 160. i had lost no xp either.

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] January 1 2008 11:10 PM EST

Does your spent BA under the BA limit go down? If not - this doesn't seem like a real problem because of the low cap. :)

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] January 1 2008 11:22 PM EST

the ba spent stat is showing the correct amount of battles i have fought.
