How to play Carnage Blender (in General)

QBJohn Birk [Black Cheetah Bazaar] December 4 2007 10:58 AM EST

*smile* Thought that would get your attention. It is pretty much all I wanted. Look, I have played this game a long time. I am not sure what my goal is per se other than to say, this is how I play CB, maybe you would like to play this way to. I will say there would be a LOT less angst around here if this was how everyone played.

This does not mean you SHOULD play this way, but, if you like it, try it. If it works for you, like it does me, then well yay for both of us.

75% of all the grief on here is about being number one in Carnage Blender. Guess what, the number one player in the game has yet to win the boasting contest, and in all truth, has not "won" much other than respect (and he would get that without being the actual number one). So why do you want to be number one? Let me ask you this. Do you think Ranger set out from day one to be number one? Maybe. Its possible. He is certainly capable of such foresight. But I bet you, he started out to be the best he could be for himself. If that turned out to be number one, so be it. This NUB and NCB nonsense, its all about being number one.

What if you try to be the best you can be, try to make your team tougher than your peers and crush them beneath your superior gear and strategy, who cares if it occurs at 100 MPR or 1mil MPR....seriously who cares? Do you? Really? If your team has a list fulll of 100% challenge bonus winners, thats pretty fun. If you can make it so you can beat people with 2 or 3 times your MPR, that is pretty fun. All of this can occur at the highest or lowest of MPRs. It does not matter.

Check out what else it gives you. You say man that RoBF is overpowered, so you go get yourself one, and dominate with it, crush them all, make an outrageous score to PR ratio until people complain. That just might prove your point, and if it doesn't well did you have fun? I know Karn did it. He was kicking one of my character's butts with no offense OTHER than the RoBF. Pretty cool! But instead of saying boo hoo its not fair, I say, oh yah, maybe I will get one, and do it better than he did, or better than ANYONE ever has. Or I will make a strategy JUST to crush the RoBF users, because I think, they smell funny or I do not need a reason.

I set myself weird challenges, can I gear up three teams with over 1mil score (why yes I can!) Can I do a single tank without a tattoo (quite well thank you) Can a single mage STILL kick butt (sure not as much but I added a little spice and poof does better) How about high MPR can you keep your score above your PR without playing them? If you do play them can you make it better (heck one of my guys I lower his score if I fight with him often and he raises back up as I sleep, gotta luv that!)

Come on seriously, if you are playing to be number one in all of Carnage Blender, this post is not for you. But let me tell you two truths. The person who is number one now put PLENTY of effort into it, and well a WHOLE bunch of other people trying to be number one are disappointed in their efforts.

Play the game for you own reasons. I am not suggesting otherwise. What I am suggesting if you give mine a spin, you might have fun and will likely have more hair.

Aargh [Closer to the Stars] December 4 2007 11:07 AM EST

There's a lot of ways to play Carnage Blender. Making it to the top is one of them.

But in the end, no matter how you play, what you want to accomplish, and what you do or don't do to reach your goals, it's all about having fun and doing your own thing. After all, it's a game, and games are meant to be fun.

QBJohn Birk [Black Cheetah Bazaar] December 4 2007 11:08 AM EST

P.S. I just checked and of the top 5 players in the game no one has three characters above 1 mil score and only Ranger has two.....I win CB!!!! Prove that I didn't *wink*

Or better yet do me one better and make 4 before I do!

Ulord[NK] December 4 2007 11:10 AM EST

*getting 5 robf chars to 1mil + score just to spite sefton* ;)

Unless Jon beats me with his nerf stick

QBJohn Birk [Black Cheetah Bazaar] December 4 2007 11:10 AM EST

Shoot I will even help with your formula for success, my number 4 better than 1mil score will be using the RoBF. Thank you for the new RoBF so that I can do it *smile*

QBJohn Birk [Black Cheetah Bazaar] December 4 2007 11:12 AM EST

There you go NK that's what I am talking about. Shoot if you think about it. You could toss a bunch of different interesting gauntlets down. Make up challenges, heck even offer cash incentives, as a matter of fact I just may start that trend when I can think of something you all could compete with me on *BIG GRIN AND WINK*

Ulord[NK] December 4 2007 11:19 AM EST

hah It's funny how people like to call me by my suffix tag. I mean nobody ever calls me broke or Ulord (that'd be the preferred name). But back on topic.

My personal goal playing CB is to amass as much wealth as possible without spending a single usd. So you'll prolly never see me buying ncb bas. I'll prolly never sell out as I love to sit on pile of useless, digital wealth. :)

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] December 4 2007 11:45 AM EST

;)

Not got time to realy get stuck into this, but it's a great topic, and great to discuss.

So I'll only quickly start with, it's all subjective. Eveyone does what they do, because they want to.

But that being said, where's the Stats - Characters - Standings - "Most Characters over 1 Mil PR" page of CB?

There are goals that even back handidly, CB, promotes.

Top MPR is one. Top Score. Top 4/3/2/1 Minion Team. Most forged. Most Clan Points. Etc.

At the moment, I'm not even 'playing' CB. That's what gives me the most fun. I'm not even using CB's original feature, of its chat room. But do use it to stay in contact with friends.

;)

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] December 4 2007 11:47 AM EST

Johnny and I have done all sorts of gauntlets Sef. ;) One that springs to mind is "See who could get the largest UC character within a NCB".

I think Johnny won that. ;)

QBJohnnywas December 4 2007 11:52 AM EST

:D

QBJohnnywas December 4 2007 11:53 AM EST

My current one is proving that I can be just as successful running a tank - if not more so - than I was running a RBF minion. So far I'm winning ;)

QBJohn Birk [Black Cheetah Bazaar] December 4 2007 11:54 AM EST

Well the reason that page does not exist even though I know that Jon VERY much wants to add it *WINK* is because right now Sefton would win hands down and by a large margin, and no one wants that.......

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] December 4 2007 12:02 PM EST

My goal for a long time has been to excite change in the top...
and I've gotten to do it a number of times.

Great Post Seft...

QBJohn Birk [Black Cheetah Bazaar] December 4 2007 12:03 PM EST

Admittedly, I am most proud of my single tank without a tattoo. Everyone says you have to have a tattoo to compete, it is NOT true. Do you have to have one to beat Ranger, sure of course you do, I mean come on his tattoo is not small. So if your goal is to beat Ranger get a big tattoo, but you do not need one to compete and compete well BTW.

Marlfox [Cult of the Valaraukar] December 4 2007 1:10 PM EST

Very nice post Seft, ;)
I'll never complain about RBF again, but not a chance I'll start one of those
things, not until Changemonths over.
Thanks for the post, again!

DrAcO5676 [The Knighthood III] December 4 2007 1:13 PM EST

Agree with you there Novice... Excite the top ranks by messing around with strats is quite fun and entertaining. There is nothing better than to beat one or two of the best strategists in the game once or twice... even if they are a little under equipped at the time.

But to keep things lively anywhere in the game is to keep the game running for years to come ^_^

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] December 4 2007 2:11 PM EST

I'm still winning my 'All time contributors' goal. ;) Come on Shady! :P

But I'm not really allowed to post about it, that's a goal CB doesn't support. ;)

QBJohnnywas December 4 2007 2:14 PM EST

All time off topic. Says it all really....;)

QBOddBird December 4 2007 2:16 PM EST

I agree with you Sefton, a single no-tattoo tank CAN do just fine ;'D

TheHatchetman December 4 2007 3:53 PM EST

I've played a lot like you Sefton, I just set goals and reach them... I've done everything I've set out to do so far, and I'm well on my way to completing my next goal, which as some of you already know, is Project 400. My trek to 400 AC. After that will come Project 200, and Project 250. Details on those projects will be released at their respective starts, and thank you's to those who participated in said projects (with or without their knowledge) will be issued in a Celebratory, "goal reached" / "thank you" thread. Oddly enough, I've also come to enjoy being in debt, and taking pride in how quickly I get myself out of the hole, only to find a new one to jump into :P

Although, upon the completion of the three aforementioned Projects, I plan to spoil myself, and start on project top 10. I'm not aiming for number one or top three only because I don't have the resources to have a free-flowing change of strats to anything you could think of like some up there, but my plan should be solid enough for me to accomplish what I want :)

th00p December 4 2007 4:26 PM EST

I play for my own reasons. Which is, to say, not playing, really. I used to have fun with UC and overpowered ELB, but being not so serious anymore I'm just having fun giving away money (CM me if you want some!) and even more than that just chatting. Makes me wonder why you're never in chat, Seft, it's the best part of the game!

Flamey December 4 2007 6:59 PM EST

my only goal is to get to 6/20, which will take a year or two to happen. The joy.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] December 5 2007 3:17 AM EST

Start a NCB and get there in under 4 months! ;)

chuck1234 December 5 2007 4:31 AM EST

I started my NCB on a lark, but I was surprised at the way the char grew. In the first week i was still playing my old char half the time, and not using any bought BA, yet in one week, with 100 pc challenge bonuses, the NCB char was getting cash rewards on par with the old char and max exp rewards.

The best time for the NCB is that phase between 100k mpr and 700k mpr when there's still the opportunity to farm 100 pc challenge bonuses. Afterwards, that bonus whittles down [now its 30 pc avg], and it will go down still further.

Initially I had hoped to grow the NCB char to 2.5 mil mpr; but the way things are going, even 2 mil mpr is beyond range. I've just reached 800k mpr after 1 and a half months, but with the decrement in fight rewards, i guess i'll be lucky to hit 1.8 mil mpr by the time the NCB gets over.

My experience is on the RoBF, which means I can't use an RoE [the overpowering downside of the "overpowered" RoBF]; but if you have a ToA/ ToE char, then you can alternate with the RoE and that will help grow your char that much better.
