How are mentors assigned? (in General)

TheHatchetman December 11 2007 11:49 AM EST

There are currently 7 mentors in room carnage aside from myself, but I just got another protege, putting me at 18 with the nearest mentor behind me at 11...

I don't mind this, as i wouldnt have signed up for being a mentor if i minded having students... :P But it seems a bit odd to me... Is it a sign that i should send forth an army of NUBs and conquer CB by means of man(/woman)power? Because I don't plan on that one just yet...

You can count past 9?.... wow....

;P I believe it's assigned based on chat activity at the time at which the player passes tutorial, increasing the chance he has someoen to talk to immediately.

A complete guess, but I get more mentees when talking alot in chat than when not, or so it seems.

I've noticed that i often do get more when im more active, but ive gone afk while you, Fanta, Slayer, Gun, or any of the other mentors is still active in chat, then come back a few hours later to find a CM saying ive been assigned, and other mentors were not only in the room, but were active, so I thought it was just coincidence...

An interesting sidenote:

At the time of this posting, 23.68% of CB's newbs are currently being mentored by Communists... Hail comrades!

It is based on activity in chat at the time as to get a mentor who'd be AFK least. I have read this somewhere, I don't know where. I just went looking for it then and I can't find it, maybe it's if you're not a mentor.
