A CB Marketing Website (in General)

Max January 19 2008 5:04 PM EST

Hi,

In the past I've ran some small linking and publicity campaigns and did OK with them. Now, I have a new idea and would like to open it up to CB. http://ourfreeonlinegame.com

Basically, this is not a CB "How To" or "The Tao of CG Two" or "The Art of CB War" Guide Number 200.

This site is to be constructed for CB marketing. The domain name is good because it has "free online game". This helps with SEO. Now, I have gotten many website top ten in Google, MSN and Yahoo!. The point of this site is to tell everyone searching for "free online games" about CB.

Why?

Because only 65k people a month search that term.

Why?

Because I own a development company and I can get it done.

Why?

Because I've missed a few years playing and want to remain active again.

Any who, thoughts, ideas and suggestions will be taken. Those of you who are writers, copywriter or other please let me know in chat mail. I need written content about CB and I also need suggestion as to how to best develop the site. Should I leave it strictly CB? Should I allow other links to other free online game sites? Should I build a group function for different free online games?

Regardless, the sites main page will be to pump users into the CB game. So, suggestions--go! Check back often because your suggestion could be created within hours!

Yes, the CB link from the site will go directly to my referral link. Sue me, but my dedicated servers run 175 a month, k?

some other online games that i play provide point rewards for voting in their favour on online game listing sites. perhaps CB can get listed on such sites and provide inducements for players to vote for the game. CB2 banner ads [paid ads] posted on the entrance pages of such sites will also prove effective, as myself and lots of others have logged onto a particular game through such a banner ad on a voting site.

Check, I ran that gambit a while back and spilt it between Daz and a few other players. We racked up a lot of referrals but I think I was think too small.

If i can capture the top ten keyword "free online game" the amount of new players would be significantly more dramatic.

So, if I read you right I should allow multiple free games to be "listed" while maintaining CB on the front-end, yes?

Chuck, CB used to do this "vote for CB to get some free BA" thing a while ago (when CB still was CB1). This was stopped because it didn't really bring much new players to CB.

Banner ads can be very effective, when placed on the right sites. If you think you know a site where CB banners can be very effective, then try it out with a short campaign. Use one of CB's banners (found under Community) and use your own referral link. Maybe you don't have the resources for a long term campaign, but if you can show us that your little test run was effective, I'm sure someone here is willing to support a longer campaign.

I discovered CB via a signature used by Jonathan on a post on slashdot. Cheap but effective.

Max, I know how much referrals you already have...

yes, perhaps you could do some such thing....actually, my point of view was more regarding entering CB2 on the various sites online that are functional, there are about ten most popular sites.

but, your reply does provide another possibility....there are voting site scripts available on the net that you can use....the only problem is to entice popular online games [with lotsa players to whom cb2 might appeal] administrators to register your site as a voting site where their players are rewarded on that game [for voting for that game]....the cb2 banner ad then catches these voting players.

the above response is to Max, for Bartjan i'll say, yes, its kinda frustrating, you think loads of people will login, but only a few do, so testing and checking the results is most important.

another idea for marketing could be to put CB on Facebook... :P

you mean the Facebook Ads, i.e., the Ads on the profile pages of Facebook [which can be geared to incredibly minute demographic preferences]; same goes for myspace, bebo, other social networking sites, maybe we can [i'll do it Monday :) search for blogs that deal with free online games and post referral links there, kewl this line of thinking is taking us places :)

Let's remember that we want quality members and not just an influx of new players. It is very important to remain open and honest about this game being text based, strategy based etc.

Doing anything else becomes cumbersome to the existing player base.

I decided not to mention CB when I spoke to you the other day, but it's good to see you back! Are you planning on sticking around for a while and playing?

Anyway, if you need help with anything, let me know :)

Max January 19 2008 11:23 PM EST

Hi Daz,

Yes, I will be sticking around again. Well, the site now has:

Check out the changes since today. Very many.

Feel free to run the site through if you want. The sole purpose is to develop a strong CB user base with quality players being funneled in on a steady basis. I have had my servers for 6 years and I want to create something that can run itself and still help CB long term.

Feel VERY free to add other free online games and to suggest categories etc that should on the site.

I always can use suggestions, feedback and support. It's nice to see you have almost graduated college. All the best to you.

It looks really great. Though a few minor suggestions. You might want to add Fighting/Forging somewhere in there. And also change this: "New User Bonus for Fast "Leveling"" to "New User Bonus for fast "leveling" allowing new players to catch up to the top player within months/a short period of time".

Advertise that you can get to the top if you join the game today.
