How about a weapon, that is a defensive weapon?
Like one that adds to your defenses but.... on a whole new level other than AC?
That way meat shields can last longer...but will not be able to attack... Adds a whole new thing to PL minions...as they would take less damage, and it gives something for Mages to use to...perhaps pump their cash into?!
