This is our American workforce... (in Off-topic)

QBOddBird January 23 2008 1:11 AM EST

The terrible part isn't the paragraph, it is the 200+ comments that follow. Many of whom claim to be college-age students.

TheHatchetman January 23 2008 1:14 AM EST

They're looking to work, and maybe one day be promoted to manager so they can LEAD, not READ!

drudge January 23 2008 1:17 AM EST

i thought we banned stuff from china recently because of its high lead content...?

A Lesser AR of 15 [Red Permanent Assurance] January 23 2008 1:41 AM EST

My jaw would not leave the floor. Unbelievable. RSers the whole lot.

QBOddBird January 23 2008 1:58 AM EST

I really liked "my names robert mills id like to get a job at walmart im 37 and tired of working conqrete."

SundariZelia [The Knighthood] January 23 2008 2:46 AM EST

it always surprises me just how stupid people can be

Adminedyit [Superheros] January 23 2008 5:15 AM EST

it never surprises me to be honest.

Lochnivar January 23 2008 6:02 AM EST

Maybe I'm naive but I find the number of girls under 18 looking for work 'to support their baby' astonishing.

Is being a single teenage mom considered a job requirement at these places? (unlike, say, literacy)
It just seems such a disproportionately large number....

But yes, your future is not in any doubt at all America.
(just remember, certainty can be applied equally to desirable and undesirable outcomes)

And to think, I though I worked with idiots now.... it could be so much worse.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] January 23 2008 6:21 AM EST

IM STILL IN SCHOOL.BUT I REALLY NEED A JOB.MY MOTHER,AND FATHER ARE 40,AN,41.

Oh, really? HIRED!

QBJohnnywas January 23 2008 6:32 AM EST

I'm actually surprised at how intelligent some of those people seem. For Americans. :P

AdminNightStrike January 23 2008 7:16 AM EST

Hi, I'm NightStrike, and I'm looking for a job, too. I have skills in fighting unarmed, so a security role would be best. I'm an expert marksman in old crossbow technology, so I would be able to handle being an outdoor security guard if necessary. I'm still in school, but my high school offers day care for students that need to work, so my kids will be ok. Do you have anything for me?

Flamey January 23 2008 7:49 AM EST

lol, this whole thread was gold.

Marlfox [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 23 2008 9:52 AM EST

Funniest. Most pathetic. Thing. Ever.

Some people need to be "Bast-inized".

OB rocks.

Iヤm a student.Iメm looking for seasonal job.How and where fill an applikation-blank?

Ha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Yukk January 23 2008 12:00 PM EST

Hey, you can't blame these kids ! Most of them are 16-20 and going to college ! That makes them the cream of the crop. Just because they have a couple of kids or whatever other advanced external interests they have doesn't make them bad.
If they're in college, they've obviously passed through the school system. It looks like the system is to blame here. Well, okay, and the kids.

p.s. My name is Billy Manolo and I've been sober for over 3 weeks now. Wait, am I in the right room ?

Colonel Custard [The Knighthood] January 23 2008 12:19 PM EST

LaBertha... That's a new name

Lol look at #57.

Blarg January 23 2008 1:54 PM EST

82. "I need you to send me a applikayshun so I can get off welfare. I got a kid and we need money. Do you drug test?"

Should I feel bad for laughing?

QBsutekh137 January 23 2008 2:50 PM EST

Don't worry, now that we have a few years of "Leave No Child Behind" under the astute guidance of George W. Bush (a true genius!), I am sure that such postings are a thing of the past!

QBOddBird January 23 2008 3:06 PM EST

Sutekh: this might make me feel a lot worse if this is the 85%.... ;)

QBsutekh137 January 23 2008 4:05 PM EST

Hey now, that story was largely autobiographical, so I would hope I am WAY better than those posters! If the 85% consists of all people like that, then we are well and truly screwed -- and I would also have to change my story title to "The 99% Man". *smile*

Yukk January 23 2008 4:07 PM EST

Hey, on the other hand, at least they were all looking for work rather than expecting welfare !

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] January 23 2008 4:50 PM EST

#67 nailed it! lol. (Although he had some abusive words, i cant quote it).

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] January 23 2008 4:53 PM EST

"Hellow my name is Tomieka Davis im 16 years old im a junior at dreher high school. im willing to work anytime after 3:oo and ill even work on weekends. im looking for a job to take care of my child. i like to work im a respectful person and i can also get alone with anyone. im looking for any open spot that you have available. thanks fo rtaking your time to read this please contact me if you can.

I couldn't help but laugh at that... I thought to myself, "Yea she's proven that with the child on board at 16 (15?)."

Brakke Bres [Ow man] January 23 2008 8:09 PM EST

i like number 79, that guy has a point, but he is too late, many of them already did :P

AdminQBVerifex January 23 2008 8:25 PM EST

Hi my name is Verifex, I'm 56 and a retired lawyer, I make 975k a year, but I need more money to support my illicit drug and women habits. Please send job to mailing address below along with a mandatory $5000 hiring bonus:

321 Contact Street
Sesame, GA 41101

I await your response.

[LittleRed]Calynne January 23 2008 8:44 PM EST

The Darwin awards just don't have enough medals for all these people... I mean, really! If you even bothered READING anything on there, you wouldn't have posted anything about wanting a job... gah, people are idiots.

We need more natural selection...

Armageddon January 23 2008 9:00 PM EST

I'm also surprised at the teenage parents.

This is a bit of Russell Peters doing his comedy skit. The link just reminded me of it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nn5jlrxcpkI

He does swear, but it makes his skit even more funny. It is more funny if you can relate :D

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] January 23 2008 9:15 PM EST

lol, I'm gonna comment on the thread saying i got a call back, =)

Weird though, it prenamed me with the name Calynne, =P I'm gonna change it though, don't worry. I just wonder why it did that, we're not on the same IP, are we? lol.
