would the game hit a dead end? (in General)

Wizard'sFirstRule January 27 2008 8:26 AM EST

when 500AC armor set become the norm, no one would be able to deal damage? and so all fights will stalement at the top and thus no one grows?

Flamey January 27 2008 8:29 AM EST

477 AC is where physical damage is blocked 100%, theoretically. And no, the upgrade curve is to exponential to get near there.

QBOddBird January 27 2008 10:32 AM EST

When you consider that CBD is now hovering in the $5/mil region, however, it seems much more plausible. :)

CBT gets you 2 AC closer, when named, as well. That's another couple million that doesn't have to be spent.

I suspect when high AC is more the norm that we may just see some reduction in damage reduction. Or something Vorpal appearing...

DD spells go straight through AC, am I wrong?

BootyGod January 27 2008 11:28 AM EST

Only the [40] not the +225 ;P

Ulord[NK] January 27 2008 11:36 AM EST

"Norm" is an overstatement. This is about the nth time the invincibility issue is raised in the life time of CB. Don't you worry, Jon will nerf things and make it unreachable should anyone try. I don't see it happening anyways.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 27 2008 12:02 PM EST

already solved... VB and decay make heavy AC look like paper mache

Frost January 27 2008 12:44 PM EST

why should ac get nerfed if someone took the time and effort to get that high of a ac they should be able to have it the way it was intended and yea theres ways of going around it decay and vorpal

Life would end as we know it and all things would turn brown. Thanks Jonathan for making the end of the game near. You may now erase the past 10 years of your life and chalk it all up as a 'big mistake'. All because you made it possible for AC to deflect all things. That must sting a bit.

Next time you want to spend 10 or some odd years to develop something, don't let it all come crashing down because of one item and its attributes. Think it through more.

TheHatchetman January 27 2008 1:04 PM EST

well... if someone achieved 477 AC with one item, then perhaps the game may come crashing down :P

Sickone January 27 2008 1:10 PM EST

If all the best "wall armor set" items in the game right now would get named and placed on the same minion, that minion would get 436 AC (105+311) for roughly 127 mil NW.
I guess it's a pretty long road to AC 477 from there, and I don't even want to know how much that would cost, NW-wise.

Max January 27 2008 1:13 PM EST

I see in the future:

Fuzzy dream whispers, fuzzy dream whispers

Change month: Cap on total AC per item per character. Cap on AC per minion. % AC nulls % of all minion magic. Or, whatever.

Fuzzy dream whispers, fuzzy dream whispers

Woah, that was close.

Flamey January 27 2008 7:24 PM EST

"and I don't even want to know how much that would cost, NW-wise."

billions.

Ulord[NK] January 27 2008 8:45 PM EST

Let's not forget how much a 100mil + armor set would add to PR. The current game dynamic really dictates that fighting with high nw armor will impede more than help character growth around 7/20. So such heavy armor set is really only viable for the 6/20 characters or on defensive positions.
