Carnage Goes YouTube! (in General)

Max January 27 2008 1:09 PM EST

Hey -

So, I had a contest for, like, the best song for CB, and like, Whip It, by Devo, was selected.

I am making a Carnage Blender Video to put on YouTube to attract more players. I need your help, like, really.

I chose 'Whip It' because it is something people may actually search for. (Stop snickering in the back, please!) Also, a few other obvious reasons.

Now, I would like to hear what you would like to see on the video.

Things to mention:

1. Images
2. Quick Video edits
3. Sounds

OK, so there you have it. Please let me know your ideas and I'll be sure to make them happen.

Think "All Your Base Are Belong To Us". Obviously, I don't think we would become a cult but the idea is still valid.

Like, thanks. (Why am I talking like I'm from, like, the valley?)

I want to see Angel of Death collecting souls.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] January 27 2008 2:06 PM EST

Stop the music for a couple seconds. Then show someone frantically C entering to some Rocky music. Or death metal.

\m/ "Carnage Blender is serious business!" \m/

Oh, and thunderclaps are extremely important.

ill be honest. a youtube video about a text based game? It would take some serious pyrotechnics to get me to watch a video on a text based game.

i don't have any suggestions other than "don't make it suck"

hehe

Angel of Death [Hell Blenders] January 27 2008 2:25 PM EST

you can only dream of seeing that, the collecting doesnt happen on this plain

RVT January 27 2008 2:28 PM EST

Maybe, somehow, if possible....Have peoples character images look like they are fighting each other.

Max January 27 2008 2:30 PM EST

Right. So make it funny, interesting, play off the theme song. Playing off the theme song is critical.

It will take CB personality and some tweaking, yes. We can pull it off though.

Now is our time. So, I need more ideas, images (links please), short video clips, (links) whipping things, all sorts of cool things like that.

If anything, we make something for ourselves and something for NP to look at.

If our hearts are not in the right place, it will never work. So, let's keep it something fun. I'll put it together, I have the video editing software, sound software, Adobe Master Collection CS3, etc.

Just need YOUR ideas as a community as how best to represent the game and make it entertaining.

I would say...a guy madly tapping at the keyboard and the words "You Defeated Hejin" "You defeated Koyaanisqatsi" etc popping up overlapped on top...

maybe a clip of his fingers dancing across the keyboard while a chat screen flies by....

then a botcheck and he falls out of his chair. :D

BootyGod January 27 2008 2:38 PM EST

One warning... If the people watching it get it into their head this is graphic based, and come here without it, the chat ops will have to have /kick copy and pasted.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] January 27 2008 2:44 PM EST

something that might work for a whipping graphic, if anyone has an active wow account is the warlock's succubus. she snaps her whip when standing still and it always reminded me of the song.

BootyGod January 27 2008 2:45 PM EST

Oh. Wow. It would. Good idea, dudemus. And tons of people play WoW (not all of them bad, or stupid)

Max January 27 2008 2:48 PM EST

I think it being a text based game is one of the major selling points.

A game you can play at work, home, on the road, on your phone etc.

No download needed!

Not really blocked by firewalls or proxys.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] January 27 2008 2:55 PM EST

You could try and plug CB's "lunchtime" format, by showing someone playing at work, occasionally looking over his/her shoulder to make sure no boss is around :)

Anything pointing out that you don't need a 5000$ rig to play, and that the game is mobile (you can play at work, on certain cells, etc...) would be appropriate.

P.S: I have failed at recovering the thread where we found out the average age of our members...but if someone would link it here, I think it could help knowing who we are targeting with a video...

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] January 27 2008 2:55 PM EST

Man, I take too much time writing, and now I repeat your ideas :P

Max January 27 2008 3:02 PM EST

Perfect!

Show people playing the game and

trying not to get caught!
from a phone
from weird places
on the space shuttle

Ok, start naming places. I'll get some screen shots to super impose.

So, I need a few things here they are:

UNCOMMON places to play CB
COMMON places to play CB
WRITTEN text for the movie that is catchy and fits with our new theme

Theme: Play Carnage Blender Anywhere!

[RX3]Cotillion January 27 2008 3:05 PM EST

Is this what you were looking for Ash? By the way, what happened to Myth?

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] January 27 2008 3:06 PM EST

Yep, exactly Red, thanks!

AdminG Beee January 27 2008 3:10 PM EST

I often play CB on the toilet from my phone whilst at work. Doesn't make me a bad person Toilet

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] January 27 2008 3:12 PM EST

it does however make me want to wash my hands!

chuck1234 January 27 2008 3:25 PM EST

how about concentrating on the ADDICTIVE nature of CB?

shot 1:

guy with dopey eyes and suspect stuff [visual screams drugs] but still miserable

looks up "free online game", comes over to cb

starts playing, gets hooked

shot 2:

meeting in the NCB [narcotics control bureau] or whatever the US anti-drug police is called, suits and uniforms, all concerned

one uniformed officer:

gentlemen, we have a serious problem over here

[and motions to the presentation screen, where we see a screenshot from CB2]

for the pure pleasure it provides every second of consumption, it has proven more addictive than hardcore drugs [ecstacy?, crack?]....this new menace threatens the well-being of our nation's youngsters

we need to do something about it

<cut to shot showing one suit gingerly handling a mobile under the table>

<a close up shows, he's playing cb2 on his mobile>

end of video

[perhaps there are stock shots available, you can do your own voice-overs, and of course the CB2 screenshots will need to be cut-pasted]

A Lesser AR of 15 [Red Permanent Assurance] January 27 2008 3:26 PM EST

Click Me

QBOddBird January 27 2008 3:53 PM EST

I usually drove around with a laptop in my lap, pressing 'C-enter' while I was going for lunch break back when I was in BR and raising an NCB.
