Ammo amounts part 3 (in General)

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] February 12 2008 5:07 AM EST

Back to this again. In the last 12 hours or so, I've picked myself up 63,000 Explosive Shots.

I could continue to do so for as long as I wanted.

I can pick up more shots than I could possibly use.

Why do we need to record ammo amounts? To waste time going to the store to purchase or spawn what you need? The cost of purchasing ammo? There's no limit to the amount of ammo you can horde either.

Taking a snap shot of the store earlier, the cost per ammo was about 0.41 CB per ammo.

Why not just increase the heal cost of a team by 40% of the number of Ranged attacks they make? The fight already records this amount. Attack 10 times, your heal cost after fighting is increased by 4 CB.

Defensive ammo is gone, there's no distinction here any more, and an ammo type item could still be left (Quiver, or IA from CB1), to allow naming and upgrades.

It would get rid of the limbo Explosive Shots are currently in, and take the hastle off of constantly having to refresh your ammo supply.

Does anyone really enjoy having to merge and equip new ammo stacks?

Sounds like a lovely idea to me :)

didnt you notice that ranger has 3 bundles of 1mil exp shot each, he got that with store farming as far as i know it.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] February 12 2008 5:27 AM EST

Exactly my point Henk. ;)

Kinda makes keeping track of ammo amounts worthless, when you can easily get more ammo than you would ever need (of every type), and hold an infinite amount.

There's no real reason to track amounts any more, is there?

You can still upgrade ammo...

What limbo are exp shots in?

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] February 12 2008 9:25 AM EST

Are they rare, aren't they rare, but it's ok to farm them.

They're not normal ammo, but you can easily get such an amount to make them for all intents unlimited.

What about RD's point? Jonathan has changed defensive ammo now to be consumed, but if a tank still wants to upgrade large amounts, it is his/her prerogative. I still don't like that tanks have the option while mages don't, but that is one primary difference between them and has been a part of game dynamics for a long time. I would say a non-trivial part.

I can think of no other way to allow for granular upgrades without keeping the item itself granular, i.e. ammo.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] February 12 2008 10:14 AM EST

You could still upgrade your ammo, like IA's. Yeah, I realised this would lead back to the ability to having two 'set' and haivng a larger one for defense.

I'd tie the Heal cost to be 40% (or whatever) for base, and increase it in proportion to the upgrade you're using.

As for getting rid of a defensive lot, I can't think of a way around that (as you don't get charged for defensive wins).

:(

"Why not just increase the heal cost of a team by 40% of the number of Ranged attacks they make? The fight already records this amount. Attack 10 times, your heal cost after fighting is increased by 4 CB."

The only reason I can possibly come up with not to do this is that mages then are paying for ammo. But that's the best I can do... :P

why don't you just setup a store menu that has
Buy xxxxxx Arrows @ xx CB2
Buy xxxxxx Bolts @ xx CB2
Buy xxxxxx Explosive Shots @ xx CB2
Buy xxxxxx Shots (in fact you could just do away with shots) @ xx CB2

That would just simplify most of that.
Then I could go buy the amount I want and then do whatever I please with it (upgrade it or not).<//nospellcheck>

"Why not just increase the heal cost of a team by 40% of the number of Ranged attacks they make? The fight already records this amount. Attack 10 times, your heal cost after fighting is increased by 4 CB. "

How exactly are you going to make this work from fights where I suffer zero damage since I have no heal cost involved? 40% of 0 is..... A feature... :)

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] February 13 2008 3:16 AM EST

That a nice idea Mikel. ;)

It's not 40% of your heal costs, it would be 40% of the number of ranged attacks you made, added to your heal cost. ;)

So attack 10 times, and don't take any damage, automatically get charged 4 CB.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] February 13 2008 3:17 AM EST

OB, I should have specified Physical Ranged attacks, which is listed seperatly to Magical Ranged attacks. ;)

QBOddBird February 13 2008 12:12 PM EST

Well then that clarifies the only objection I was able to come up with! :D
