5 things showing up on my bank history only 4 on my paypal history. Why?
I deleted some of the lines and sections of my bank statement (non-PP charges, serial numbers, transaction codes, source info, and running balance.) as they seem superfluous, and x'd out the recipient names, as they seem like nunya :P

But an extra $10 missing from my bank account, with no idea where it went or why is disturbing me... I'm damn near broke at the moment, and even I can say $10 isn't that big a deal... But if it happens again, and/or has happened before. That adds up... And with as little attention as I pay to my bank and paypal when I'm not using them (almost never really do...) this could add up big time. Especially considering I don't often leave much money in the account, which could lead to $36 overdraft fees...

I tried talking to the people at my bank about this, but it would seem they all have about the IQ of a ham sandwich (with no cheese, veggies, or condiments, add any of those to the sandwich, and it could run a more efficient bank)... I have a check out now, and as soon as it clears, I'm closing the account. I have already taken the liberty of burning all my remaining checkbooks, and cutting my debit card to shreds. I will likely make a decked out ham sandwich to bring with me when I close my account, claiming "You must be this smart to handle my money" as I leave it on the counter while walking out...

But regardless, my bank is useless, so I'm turning to you guys for answers ^_^

I can think of 4 possibilities:
1) The $10 was charged twice to the same person by accident.
2) Paypal made a mistake and debited the wrong account.
2) You signed up for some sort of recurring payment plan. It should show up in Paypal though.
3) Identity theft. Someone got a hold of your information.

I'd contact paypal and see what they say. If they don't solve it, closing the bank account is probably a smart move, but you should also file a claim with the bank for a fraudulent transaction. Also, if you can, get a free credit report and check it out to make sure that everything checks out and you aren't a victim of identity theft. Having a bad credit history will last with you for a long time, so you should check it early on if there might be a problem so that you can take action to resolve it,

Contact paypal, support for paypal is pretty bad but it would be better than calling your bank. If it's a mistaken transaction paypal should return the payment. Itemize your bank statement and see if it's not a duplicate. if for some off reason the payment from 2/13 didn't complete paypal would attempt a second charge.

"3) Identity theft. Someone got a hold of your information. "

hehe, my first thought was identity theft, but if that was the case, a) how could they delete the transfer information from the paypal account, and b) why go through the trouble only to take $10? :P

"If they don't solve it, closing the bank account is probably a smart move"

Even if they do solve it, with all the crap issues I've been getting from Regions Bank, closing the account is not a "smart move" it's just common sense that I should have used last year before they got $242 in overdraft fees from me... Only one of which did I know to be my fault, the rest of which seemed like bank issues... I found one really odd that I had 3 overdrafts in a week, yet my ending balance was only -$71.48... No minimum balance on the account, so I somehow went below $0.00 (while thinking I still had almost $40 in the account), got charged $36*3, and ended up with less negative than could be caused by only two overdrafts...

DO NOT BANK WITH REGIONS, PEOPLE!!!!!!!

Oh, and I'm calling them now ^_^

oooh you are a brave man, I use the web support, it's like an hour of holding time for support

TheHatchetman February 22 2008 8:24 PM EST

Got too much BA to spend, and too short a fightlist for web support :P

But the support line has too high evasion to connect and their routers have firewalls of balrog flames. :P

Apparently paypal took the $10, sent it to xxxx, but my bank denied the transfer (cuz apparently $32.17 won't cover a pair of item namings...), so I was credited with $10 (didn't notice this part... guess this line of my bank statement wasn't superfluous :P). Then paypal tried taking the $10 again yesterday morning, and was successful (Because apparently $2.13 *is* enough to cover a set of namings >.<)

And for those of you wondering how I use my account to get it so low, it's simple. :P

I almost never use it. When I do use it, I call the bank before leaving the house so I can know my balance. I never use credit, and rarely write checks (I've written six in the past year and a half two were to "Cash" just so i could make a withdrawl without hitting the ATM on my way out of the bank, and one was to my mother cuz I couldn't find my debit card :P). I also never deposit my checks. I cash them, then deposit in cash what I need to (to avoid the 2-3 day hold on deposited checks). So every time I get a balance, it is current. No surprises from me, my bank takes care of that enough. A simple fix would be to leave $50 in my account at all times, never to be touched. But I don't have an extra $50 to throw away just to make sure my account stays right...

Luckily, my issues will soon be solved... Another thread on that coming soon, with all good news, once I get the remaining details finished out :D

I kinda figured it was something like that. They did that to me a while back. Charged my account 200 twice, credited it back but didn't really help the overdrafts
