The name for Oz in the "Wizard of Oz" was thought up when the creator, Frank Baum, looked at his filing cabinet and saw A-N, and O-Z, hence "Oz."

and on a related note, the Name of the Witch of the West (elphaba) from the book Wicked was derived when the author took the sounds of L Frank Baum's initials and blended them together. :)
