In England, the Speaker of the House is not allowed to speak.
Perhaps the slightest bit ironic, no?
now that's something I didn't know, but I don't live in England so thats probably why.

Not true at all I'm afraid. The Speaker of the House (of Commons) doesn't take part in debates but instead presides over them. If you can find any clips of debates in the House Of Commons the Speaker is the voice you hear loudly saying ''Order! Order!".
