Item recovery from inactive characters (in General)

Take a look-see:

I was rooting around for a RoE to help an NCB strat I want to try for. Given the lists of who has what, I figured I would look in the top items and look for someone with multiple RoE's to make an offer.

Lo and behold I see (just an example) Ballin with no less than _NINE_ RoE, and yet his last login was over 6 months ago...

What's the consensus of recovering rares such as these from inactive/delete accounts (particularly as they are supporter items we cannot spawn in the BM) and having them circulated out by the auctioneer or BM auctioneer?

It shouldn't happen. If those people do ever decide to come back what then? The got an item and are a supporter in the game. If they want to leave and not play for 6 months to a year or ever. It's their stuff. Now maybe a different story for the items on a non-supporter as his account is about to be deleted from the game. That I might look at a bit differently, but I doubt anything will ever happen to those items either.

i think sox has it right. also, jon has been willing to reintroduce items, much to the chagrin of some, and that is a much better solution than raiding inactive accounts.

raiding inactive accounts would be fun though. :)

I also agree with Sox.

Ballin will likely be back, and just left the smart way... He figured he was going to leave for a while, so he invested all his cash in supporter items, so that they could continue to grow in value (especially as dirt cheap as the RoE was right after the re-intro :P), so that upon his return, he's rich :P

I'm not advocating that we grave-rob supporters or the like, but if the Jon ever decided to start pruning inactive supporter accounts, I was wondering what the general opinion would be.

I was gone from the game for 2 years. Imagine if I come back and find my account stripped...

I also took a 1 year hiatus from CB. I would have been pissed to come back and find my account looted.
Then again, if I had been able to start a NUB because of that...

I've been gone for over a year too, if not longer...
I thought I was going ballistic when I found out my TSA was gone...I did have a lot of cash though in stead.
And now TSA is back in game :-)
