Crazy silly idea (in General)

What if you could actually sell MINIONS instead of just characters ? :)

Yeah, I know, ridiculously overpowered, like, say, somebody like SoxJr be hiring minions to sell, assuming somebody could actually afford to buy a few on a fresh NCB for a nearly 1 mil MPR start.
Granted, would "only" cost something in the vicinity of 200 mil CB$ (including fees plus Sox's share), which would kind of be a serious enough overkill to prevent this from becoming a normal occurence.

Still, the idea of trading a minion you have away to somebody else who could use him is not that horrible per se.
Like, say, again, giving the example of Sox, let's say he decides to hire a new minion, pays his 60-ish mil CB$ (ouch) or how much it costs him, then some time down the road he decides that, well, sorry, he's simply no longer interested in being a 2-minion team.
He could take the dive and just fire his minion, and waste all that cash plus a lot of XP he might have had on his now-back-solo minion... OR he could trade this minion away to somebody else so he can at least recoup a portion of his investment.

Also, you could just as well have then low-MPR chars creating minions for sale to high-MPR characters that just can't afford to buy a new high-XP minion, and just want a killslot.
Granted, that could be against what Jon wants, since he could have also introduced a "hire 0 XP minion for cheap" option if he wanted to.
In case that's something you want to avoid, you could introduce some (relatively) high transfer fees, dependant on destination character MPR for instance, or you could simply deny trading minions that go too far below or above a certain percentage of your MPR.

So, yeah, silly idea, I guess... but wouldn't it be somehow nice too ?

very nice idea it would give player like me a chance to go even higher very nice idea

For some incredibly odd reason.... I like this idea...

*hits self in the head* Nope.... Still like it... Nice one, Sickone.

I agree, this would be a nice option to have.
Those stuck in 7/20 could hire an extra minion to help them out of that slump and afterwards, the extra minion could be sold to whomever.

not so silly.

Heck, I'm pleasantly surprised by the overwhelming good opinion percentage of replies :)
Too bad all the rest didn't have anything to say about it :p

Flamey April 22 2008 11:06 AM EDT

Not many people fire their minions, so that would probably be an issue.

I for one haven't replied yet because I'm trying to figure out why this bothers me deep down in my soul. It really does seem like a good idea. With the right checks and balances (don't ask me what they would be) it may just be a GREAT idea. But something about it just feels ... odd.
Still...this is exactly the kind of stuff that I think benefits CB to be talked about even if it doesn't make the cut.

celsis April 22 2008 11:29 AM EDT

That is quite an interesting idea. And i think some good things could come out of it

The only possible pitfall is that it'd allow what I believe Jon doesn't want (although I could be completely and totally wrong) - the hiring of very, very small minions on a large team. Due to the scaling costs of hiring minions, all hired minions start with a small but significant amount of XP, which keeps the gap between largest and second-largest minion in a certain ratio for a given MPR. If we could just buy and sell them to others, I'm sure it would present lots of strategic opportunities, but give some unfair advantages as well.
