I'll be going to a festival in Maine in a couple months, and I have taken an interest in building one of the playlists for our trip. I am looking to put together a "BOOM" list (not named personally), which would include anything from hip-hop (dance tracks mostly), jazz, techno, trance, electronica, psy - something which would make the average joe bounce with the beat.
I'll pay you 50k per artist if I put his/her songs on the BOOM list.
Medeski, Martin and Wood, Paul Oakenfold, Benny Benassi, Buckethead, Infected Mushroom, and Shpongle are current structures of the list. Here are some examples (YouTube links):
Infected Mushroom - Muse Breaks
Vibe Tribe - Lfobia

anything by pendulum, I'm off to see them in 15 minutes
or Hadouken (look them up on you tube) (I'm mates with the drummer)
If you don't mind techno rock then I recommend Killing Joke or for something a bit crazy, get some colon-openbracket in there also :)
That's pretty much my extent to your type of music excluding Prodigy, Pendulum and Chemical Brothers which have already been mentioned.
Although I'd probably recommend some of the old skool Fatboy Slim stuff, Better Living Through Chemistry and You've Come A Long Way, Baby are the two albums I'd recommend flicking through.

Pendulum is a great addition, thank you.
I watched quite a few Hadouken videos, including live in Amsterdam, good stuff!
Stone roses - fools gold (or one of the dancier remixes), primal scream - moving on up or loaded, from the indie side of dance.
Eat static.

Recommending stuff like this is always fraught with difficulties, but as a starter how's about:
Tiësto (particularly some of the remixes)
The KLF (what's not to like?)
N-Trance ("Set You Free")
Groove Armada (in the "If Everybody Looked The Same" line rather than their more ambient stuff)
House Of Pain ("Top O' The Morning To Ya")
Faithless ("We Come 1")
Gigi D'Agostino ("L'Amour Toujours")
Hixxy (if you like the Happy Hardcore...)

Since Rubberduck[T] reminded me, Stone Roses - I Am The Ressurection is a cracking tune.
Oh, and add Utah Saints to my previous list too.
The Descent I/II soundtracks are pretty get-up-and-go....

I'm guessing Simon and Garfunkel don't qualify..?
number one DJ in the world: Armin van Buuren, try some of those tracks.
If you really need good trance you might wanna listen to DJ tiƫsto's club life on
Radio538: http://www.radio538.nl/web/show/id=96452, some playlists on
the website, its in dutch but you can read the playlist.
I also like gym class heros... but not really my kinda music you are asking for... so can't really help... just throwing stuff out in case, for the money...

Dig out Underworld's old tune Born Slippy. You want the 'nuxx' version which is the vocal version. It's the song that has the lyric 'lager lager lager' from the Trainspotting soundtrack if you know what it is. That always gets people jumping.
