Idea for a change to Evasion effect. (in General)

Most things gained by cash in CB have an XP equivalent. Weapons and UC for example.

AC doesn't. You can only gain AC with cash.

In a couple of the long Evasion threads, I suggested changing the Evasion effect to a percentage based physical damage reeduction, like the MGS for DD. This would require a massive change to the curve of it's effect.

How about changing the effect of Evasion to grant a single point of AC. Either base, or enhanced AC (I could see it as leaping out of that Fireball blast). With a little tweaking to the curve if necessary.

Most Evasion based minions don't have, and can't have High AC armour, as this has large Dex (and Skill) penalties. A change like this would give us another way to deal with large physical damage, without needing a binary system that frustrates players.

Besides, I see the 100% reduction of 477 AC being, amended, soon. ;)

If Evasion does change like this, I would like some XP based way to counter weapon based PTH. We could either change the way the 'double dipping' works now, and have excess DEX based CTH reducing PTH (Which would be a benefit of naturally trained DEX over Evasion, as Evasion would grant no positive CTH, and would also give EC more of an impact), or make something like a new EC (Rust?) that specifically targets Weapon NW, reducing the weapons stats.

What do you all think?

;)

(Thinking about this as I type, I'm quite partial to changing the double dipping in favour of natural Dex over Evasion. Evasion gives you a change to avoid Dex based hits which can be coupled with DBs, and gives you some damage reduction. While natural Dex is offensive and if significantly larger than your opponent can help combat thier PTH)

reduce evasion's effect by 50% and grant 1 AC per each level of *natural evasion

Why natural?

Everything else in the game is boosted by items. If the AoF is the problem, change it to +2/-4 per point.

I'd change both evasion (and UC) to include 'endurance' rather than AC.

In tribute to dear ole' Jiggy....

With AoF we wll see complete nullification this way or that, so I would vote for natural.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] May 6 2008 6:15 AM EDT

That's what EC is for. ;) Not only would it be boosted back by the AoF, but I'd also change ENC to be reduced by negative stats, so a minus STR from EC would radically lower your ENC, possibly lowering your AC even more.

Johnny, I'd like Endurance as it's own seperate skill. ;)

Yes, that would be good too!

isn't this what protection used to be before jon changed it to its current implementation?

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] May 6 2008 7:25 AM EDT

Yup. ;)

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] May 6 2008 7:29 AM EDT

i have always wondered at why jon changed evasion for cb2. with that being said though i do assume he had a reason. perhaps with other changes though that reason is void. if his reason still holds....

amf seems to be pretty well balanced without being overpowered. if the name was changed from evasion to force field or some such, evasion could be modeled as an amf for physical damage?
