When you dis-enchant an item that you were currently upgrading, the forge switches the item to whatever your default is.
In my case, it's a Helm of Durin. Interesting, and slightly annoying.
So you're saying you want a cooler default item? :P
I want it to stay at the item i was forging, instead of changing it.

If you are forging and then disenchanting (horribly unprofitable,) then you're just as well off moving the other items to a different character so that only your item you are forging can be the default.
