Creating a 2D version of CB (in Off-topic)

Hi Guys, me and a few of the other players are going to be working on creating a 2D version of CB, it will differ, if you would like to help please let me know by typing your response here,

It looks pretty good, WM's already got a Cone of Cold and Fireball spell and I tried to make a FoD spell for fun ;)

You can be a tank or a mage, too...:D

no you can buy a bow and kill whomever you like, create a character, earn xp and train your stat points into HP, STR, magic, and the such :)

this way the fights can last a lot longer between players.

You realize, of course, that CB is already 2D?

OK, I tried not to, but it seems I have no choice.

No, to be does not require graphics at all, it requires 2 Dimensions, you know, the D in 2D... CB already as two, three if you want to get a bit loose with Time. Height and Width, you see, are Dimensions.

To take this back to where the intent from the beginning was, that is, sarcasm/silliness/etc... It even has great Depth.

Just added AS, EC, GA to the mix. New class - enchanter.

I'm wondering if there's any way to make a good UC class without weapons...or simply with varying upgrades of HGs.

sure we can do that :), you just have to up HP and STR and wear some really good armor :)

That is inconclusive at the moment, as far as i'm concerned at the moment if it gets sold it will start low and go by Supply and demand,
Any revenue made by the game will be used to upgrade the game, and also to upgrade the original CB, money's made will be split 50/50 between both games.
Also to host the website for the game.

3. Any time frame for when a beta will be released to the public?

That is a good question, I will be needing a few people soon to test the complete maps and let the staff know of any errors.

4. What are you guys using?

Things that will be added.

In game Stock Market:

1 Share of the game for 1000 CB.

The stock will start at 1000 CB and can be sold and traded in game by PM'ing an Admin, or another player,
of course the price will change with the supply and demand market.

Player/Guild Houses:

Houses will be available for sale in all cities ranging in price from 10,000 CB to 1M CB.

In game Auctions/Forum Auction/FSWTB:

The in game auctions i am trying to figure that out at the moment:), the FS WTB threads will be hosted on PhpBB.

Item Naming/ Upgrading:

This is a work in progress, I am in need of a VB6 scripter to write a script, if you are at all interested please see me in game, or PM/CM me or one of the other staff.
This person will become an ADMIN and be paid in CB Currency, until the game starts bringing in revenue (if it does).

The Staff so far, are:

War_Maiden: Root Admin/ Lead Developer
OB: Root Admin/ Secondary Developer/ Item creator.
Lostling: Secondary Developer.

Again we will be hiring soon (CB in game, USD (if game makes money).

How will this stock work? We pay Central Bank or the makers of the game? I could see it go either way which is why i ask, lol.

Wth...that doesn't warrant you testing more then anyone else.

This game will only work if there are ragdoll physics and fully destructible environments. However I will still test/play it if it doesn't have those features... =P

I played the game for a few hours, it definatly needs work, but i thin g we got it heading in the right direction. I havnt had time to do mapping lately and i havnt seen war maiden in awhile, so im not sure on recent progress.
Overall the PvP should be a fun aspect to the game once it gets balanced.

alisa has a server... she could probably host it for you... just not sure how much bandwidth and stuff she has... think you should ask her...

some suggestions:
1. only EO and EDs use the current spell system... let the DD spells use "arrow"(line of sight firing)
2. rework the basic mechanics of the game... (highly important) remove over all levels

hey, i have small experience with the type of engine you are useing to make this game, i used to make games with a similer looking engine.
im just wondering, (im pretty sure this is going to be ignored, or regected, but its worth a try) if i could be like, the person who helps make the weapons, items etc. or something like that.

i get an error message while trying to play the game:

you must copy dx7vb.dll from client folder to system32 (windows folder) and register it.
"

but when i go to do that, it says i already have that same file in my system32 folder, and i dont wanna overwrite it, just incase something stuffs up. unless thats what i have to do.

mmm, Im trying the game out but I can't seem to fight. Any chance of a small button explanation? I don't even know how to fight lol

arrows keys = movement
enter key = pick stuff up/read signs
ctrl key = attack with weapon/shield equipped

Hmm. I've been away from CB for almost a year. I have a question though, would this run under other OS, especially Linux and specifically Ubuntu? I have a program on Ubuntu called WINE that can emulate Windows and run most programs, provided they're not ridiculously complex.

Also, what is the game programmed with? I had a course dealing with C++ and I don't know if any part of your game involves C++, but I would sure like to help out its development.

i will check to see if the game will run on Ubuntu, and it is written in vb6 but i am looking to update it :)
