At the $100 price point I am tempted. I don't care about online play or worse graphics. Is there any other reason (massive load times?) to pay $120 more for the ps3 version? (I'd need an extra guitar too for the ps3, but I already have GH axes for the ps2.)
I personally would buy it for the PS3, just because i enjoy using it. :)
But, I do not think there is any gameplay differences, other then graphics and features.
Your getting more money selling 'sepcial items' why not buy the better version that will hold it's value and be much cooler?

Played guitar hero at a friends house on ps3, and rock band at frys. I dont think there is a big difference. That type of game really doesnt matter how impressive the graphics are.
from what I was told the features just aren't there in the the PS2 version... might not stop me as RVT seems to love it
do you have a ps3? 40 or 80?

I'd go with PS3 if you have that option. The additional downloadable content really keeps the game fresh once you've played through the song list a few dozen times.
$0.99 or $1.99 for new songs is a pretty fair price, I've probably grabbed an extra 25 songs already, and there is a good variety of downloadable releases.
Not to mention, if you're on a high def TV, "worse graphics" is an understatement :).
When Guitar Hero 4 Comes out, you will have the who shebang, just like rockband, except you will have the option to edit songs :)
For the money it will be a great one.
If you don't have the 80GB PS3 you can't play ps1 or ps2 games i don't believe, they are re-releasing the PS3 80gb sometime this year, atleast thats what i read:)
well hey you asked

Rock Band for the Xbox allows you to buy CDs and play them through Xbox Live.
AFAIK, this is not a feature that is available for Rock Band: PS2/3 or the upcoming Wii release.

wait, nvm, that actually IS the buying point on the PS3. It's just the PS2 and Wii. Please disregard the above post
I have a 60gb ps3 and it plays PS2 games, so no its not only the 80gig. the 40gb is the only one that doesnt support ps2 games.
yes IND but they stopped producing the 60 :)
