Best answer I can give you is to check the Help! link in the top left of your sidebar...but here's a few tips.
1) Less is more. Don't bother trying to train one of every possible skill/enchantment/spell. You'll have many weak abilities, whereas if you train into one, that one is stronger.
Same thing applies to minions. You get, for example, 100 exp a fight - with 1 minion, he gets all 100. Two minions get 50 each, and so forth.
2) Don't be afraid to ask for help.
3) Take advantage of your free extra BA - it's the (get more) link on the sidebar. You get more every day.
