Help me fix my game! (in Off-topic)

Alright, so the other day I bought Oblivion for PC. My system meets the minimum requirements - though it doesn't exceed them by much at all - yet when I try to run the game, it completely fails.

I get the "Oblivion has encountered a problem and needs to close" popup. Does anyone know what is potentially wrong with my computer, or has anyone had any experience with this game and trying to get it to run on their PC? Please respond if you can help! :D

Thanks for the quick responses everyone! Thanks to IA and Jenn, I know now it's my video card. :) With any luck after I update that it'll run...thanks again!

i hear the ATI graphics cards, the 1600 and/or the 1650 HD ones are basically as good as the 8800's but are half the price. Check that out man.

ATI cards really aren't anywhere as powerful as Nvidia cards. They are, on the other hand, a good deal cheaper, so if you don't mind not having all the eye candy or not getting >10 FPS on Crysis, an ATI card should be fine for you.

I am adamant about staying away from ATI cards. Both my laptop and PC have one, and both would do a lot better with a Nividia card. I mean, if you have a choice, run far, far, away from ATI.

"I am adamant about staying away from ATI cards. Both my laptop and PC have one,"
