The hidden costs of ammo? (in General)

Mojo Patroneus [My2ndClan] July 23 2008 9:24 PM EDT

Riddle me this: now that ammo had been removed, are we still paying for it?

Methinks so, and the price seems (to me at least) somewhat high. Here is the math:

I took note of what my $CB was onhand at 12:33am on 7/22 and what I have as of posting this thread:

$2,440,988 Tuesday 12:33am
$1,818,707 Wednesday 9:04pm
------------
$622,281 raw difference
-$57,540 paid to blacksmith - forging
-$419,265 upgrade Axbow (+15 x3 @ 139755 per +15)
------------
$145,476 difference after costs
/102 over 102 battles
------------
~$1427 per battle!
/36 shots (2 archers - at worst, 3 shots per round, over 6 rounds)
------------
~$40 per shot!

Considering that one of my archers has relatively low Dex and uses a sling, and my Axbow typically fires twice (not thrice) per round, the cost/shot should be even higher.

Does this strike anyone as a bit odd? Am I missing something here?

Was it posted that ammo would still continue to bleed $CB and at what rate? If so, does $40/shot seem excessive?

Im not getting any huge cost...
Befroe battle: $139,866
Reward: $441
After Battle: $140,304

Thats only a $3 loss.

Ranged Hits / Shots / Avg Damage 9 / 9 / 1,213

and I shot 9 arrows.

Heaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaling.

...Problem solved?

Ammo doesn't cost you money. Jon reduced cash rewards instead.

And, while healing may not account for your $145k in costs, I'm sure that there's something else that does. I doubt that ammo is costing anybody anything, and it wouldn't be nearly that much if it was.

QBsutekh137 July 23 2008 9:51 PM EDT

Colts, if I am not mistaken, you have no ammo.

Yes, healing incurs cost.

But no one has disproved what Mojo is saying just yet. I, too, cannot prove or disprove. I don't have ammo.

QBsutekh137 July 23 2008 9:53 PM EDT

Mojo, compare a single battle to a single outcome. Average those costs. That's one way of analyzing this from a different vector.

Thanks for the input.

I neglected to include healing, but I have no idea if this is a flat rate per char/minion, or based on the actual HP healed. Thoughts?

While I won't discount the cost of healing, I have to comment that for 102 defensive battles (give or take a few), 145k seems an AWFUL lot to account for it.

At that rate, simply having my account sit idle for ~2 weeks would bleed me dry. Does that seem right/fair?

For healing its not defensive fights its Offensive.... thats where healing costs come in.

QBsutekh137 July 23 2008 10:34 PM EDT

Nojo, just do 10-20 battles. Tell us the cost between each. It's really rather simple. *smile*

QBsutekh137 July 23 2008 10:35 PM EDT

Er, Mojo. *smile*

Mojo Patroneus [My2ndClan] July 23 2008 11:01 PM EDT

Dingo, obviously. When I am free from this current forging commitment, I shall commence testing.

Still, where does it all go?

INDColtsFan18 July 23 2008 11:12 PM EDT

FriskyDingo, my results were taken from my tourney character. Using a Hxbow.

QBsutekh137 July 23 2008 11:22 PM EDT

Exactly, that's why Mojo needs a better battle-by-battle breakdown. This one is easy to track down, so that's the data we need...
