Bubble tea? ...

If it's yummy, addictive, and fun to play with... bubble tea is kinda like Carnage Blender... :P Welcome to CB. I know you'll enjoy the family.

VivaPinata July 30 2008 8:28 PM EDT

Dude, wait, I know what bubble tea is!
My auntie came back from China and I dranked it once! It's like tea, but with those bubbly black things at the bottom. Too bad I'm not much of a tea fan =(

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] July 30 2008 8:31 PM EDT

So..tea but with rocks at the bottom?

I'll have a milkshake, please ;P

Optimus(Prime) July 30 2008 9:15 PM EDT

no its nothing like tea its like a blender fruit with tapioa tapioca = black rock thing

AdminLamuness July 30 2008 9:33 PM EDT

Tapiocas are sometimes also called bobas. Sometimes people put jelly, or lychee in place of bobas. They're delicious, but of course the quality of it makes a big difference. I suggest everyone try some if they get a chance.

Try Seattle where you'll find "Bubble Tea" shops all over the place... and yes, Ice Tea with Milk and Tapioca "balls" in the bottom.

Bubble Tea!!
It IS a smoothie with tapioca balls on the bottom, so you get a huge straw to suck the out of the drink and its chewy. It is infact the tapioca balls in the drink that either make or break its popularity. Some people LOVE the tapioca balls (aka, the bubble in bubble tea), or they DESPISE it and never drink it again. You always have to try it before you knock it.

And btw, smoothie is considered a misspell?! They need to fix that :)

FuriousHobo July 31 2008 6:24 PM EDT

Do you all live under a rock or something? Bubble tea is a drink made of all different kinds of teas with flavored syrup on top of that, finished with pearls on the bottom. It contains a variety of kinds of tea: black tea, white tea, green tea and even milk tea. The flavors are made out of the syrups. The popular ones are Jasmine, Taro, Strawberry, Passion Fruit. The pearls (tapioca) give a chewy texture as your drink it. There are many replacements such as grass jelly, aloe vera, coconut jelly, etc. Recently, there have been different kinds of these drinks such as "snow bubbles" with blend ice with the Bubble Teas.

If you ask why i know so much, I live in an area where we have a Bubble Tea shop every 5 minute drive. :)

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] July 31 2008 6:46 PM EDT

Hey, thanks for all the details, people, really :P

VivaPinata July 31 2008 6:52 PM EDT

This is officially my all time favorite new players thread now! Unlike previous new player threads, this one barely mentioned the word "welcome" at all! I love it. xD I might start enjoying me some bubble tea to celebrate!

Welcome again, BT. Glad you are with us :D

Mirick August 1 2008 3:11 AM EDT

I hear it tastes horrid, can anyone confirm?

QBOddBird August 1 2008 12:14 PM EDT

Dunno, I'd never heard of it before I saw that name.

Any chance that there's a bubble tea shop in the deep south?
