3rd Annual Carnage Blender Fantasy Football League (in Off-topic)

Yes, that time of the year is here. I'll be setting up a league for those of you that want to play on ESPN. The question I have for you is, do we play for CB this year or don't we? I mean, not that I have any, or will have any, but I suppose I could buy some with USD if that's the route we take. And if we are playing for CB, then what amount should we play for? Is 2 mil still considered a lot? Well, let me know if there's any interest.

I'm definitely in and I will surely throw down a lot of CB$ on it.

So, I'm hoping that a lot more people are going to join this year than in the two previous. On account of that I've been contemplating the roster slots-- if there's more people I don't want that to water down the competition. Here's what I was thinking. Let's go to a 1 QB, 1 RB, 2 WRs, 1 TE, 1 Defense, and 1 K. Or maybe even 1 WR, 1 WR/TE... I want to keep it simple so everyone can still have a chance to have a solid team. I'm not sure what I want the scoring to be like, but I like the idea of .5 points per carry for RBs. Basically, I'd like the scoring to be indicative of a player's importance (whether it's simply a perceived importance or not...) to his team. So WRs shouldn't be scoring more than RBs unless they are damn good. Defenses should score a lot more than what they usually do, though I don't like drafting individual defensive players. Muddies everything up too much. Kickers should be rewarded for clutch kicks, or severely penalized for missing them and breaking everyone's hearts. QBs should score. A lot.

So suggestions are needed for what exactly the format/scoring system is going to be. Suggest away!

the one suggestion I would have has nothing to do with the scoring.. I think that the costs for waivers and weekly winner thing was kind of a waste of time last year... I didn't really quite like that... I say just a strait SB winner takes all or 1,2,3, and 4 are awarded cash at the end, the weekly winner seemed actually like too much hassle for you to keep up with and kinda odd because weekly high score doesn't mean crud if you can't close out the season...

Scoring you can do what ever, your ideas for scoring sound good... I am in 5 leagues right now and they all score differently so I really have no preference...

Whatever format is chosen for teams this competition (and website, universe, whatever) should definitely feature one less Mem.

LuisOrtiz they usually do have a 2 mil or more entry fee and yes it is used as the pot at the end of the season

What is the present exchange rate for CB? Is 2 mil too much to ask? The two previous years have both been played for 2 mil CB, so it seems like a solid custom to keep.

As far as defensive players go, I am opposed. I want to keep it simple. As simple as possible. That said, if everyone wants them I would totally go along with that, so let me hear your thoughts.

Looks like there's been interest expressed by 10 people, and myself. So with 11 people we can have a decently sized league. Hopefully there are more that want in. If we get up to 16 we can think about splitting divisions. That'd be neat.

oh wow... 16 team leagues are rough... I am in 1 16 team league and it is TOUGH!!!!!! I agree with you on the defensive player, if we have a bunch of new guys then adding the def players into the mix just adds confusion...

2 mill seems fine to me, exchange rate is 2 - 3 now per mill ish... really really low

Jenn...no offense meant by this post. I was there in Chat when we had that original discussion, and I didn't particularly care for some of the things Mem said at the time either.


However, that was months ago. You seem to be pursuing him with a vengeance...please, just let off him in this thread. It is a thread about the Fantasy Football League, not about how good or bad Mem is, and it is being thrown wildly off-track.

So I just set up the league with 12 teams. I've decided that I will be providing the prize (as yet to be decided upon), so there are no entry fees whatsoever. I've sent out invites to the people that played last year, so those people already have a place in the league. If you were interested in playing you MUST now send me your email address in a CM. I really want to fill up these 12 slots soon because the next point on the agenda-- the draft date.

The draft is set for this coming Sunday 8-17-08 at 10pm EST (server time). If you can't make it, no sweat. Just make sure you set your draft preferences. It's not a long draft, and even if you draft poorly you should still have a chance at making a decent run since there are only 10 players per team.

So check out the rules, let me know if you see anything you don't like. And good luck to you all!

Looks like interest has really picked up. We have all 12 positions filled, but that doesn't mean you're out of luck. I'm totally willing to expand the field to entertain more participants, though I would be shaking things up at that point-- adding divisions. So if you want to play give me a shout.

Changed the draft time on Sunday to 6pm. Sorry for those of you that can't make it. I can only say that you should make sure to set your draft priority. There is good news, though-- the format of the league does not mandate failure from a poor draft. There will be ample opportunity for enhancement via free agency, for those that have the skill (or, most often simple will with a bit of luck). See you on Sunday!

For some reason I was granted League Management capabilities on the site I am trying to get with Mem to see what is up. Just in case he does want me to help and/or take over or anything can all you guys claim your team. I think we still have just 1 spot open because we lost an owner. Deifeln took the Team 12 that was open and he has confirmed.
Edyit I still haven't heard back from, he confirmed on the site but just wanted to make sure he was still playing.
Odd says he is playing but still waiting for him to confirm on the site.
Hope that we hear back from Mem soon so we can set up a draft day, this is still his league I am just the helper for now unless Mem specifies otherwise.

Oh and I did go ahead and clean up all the teams so when we get ready to draft we can start.

Oh and I remember last year the problems with the "undropable" players so I found the setting to remove that feature because I know it messed up a few teams last year.

Just to get some things rolling.. do any of you guys have some dates and times that would be bad for draft... please use date and time of carnage server... I am sure all of you know your time differences...

I can't draft on weekends. I know that doesn't fit with anyone's schedule, so don't worry about me.

anytime between noon and 2am, will most likely work for me as long as im not busy with family/friends.

Just let me know when and I'll do what I can to be there. Preferably in the afternoon though.

I have a draft on Saturday from 1PM -5PM , then another on Sun from 1PM-8PM EST. So Sat night would be good for me.

If I need to preset my draft I will do so.

just about any time on a saturday or sunday works for me, weekdays aree really hectic though, i can preset if needed though

I'll be able to do drafts on weekdays after around 8p.m.

I don't plan on doing anything through the weekends so those are open to me as well, but I'd rather it be around 5 p.m or later.

if any of you guys can go ahead and in your spare time set up your predraft rankings on the site that may help you for when we do decide to do the draft... I am trying to wait as long as I can for mem... obviously we still need another player anybody an owner for ranger's old team??

Ok we have everything set except for rangers team and the location on Mem... ok I have heard from mem he is out too, he said he just doesn't feel like dealing with it this year... so unless we find any 2 members by tomorrow I am going to just remove mem and ranger's teams and schedule the draft...

I was thinking that since this weekend coming up is the last weekend that we can do the draft and since it is a holiday weekend for some I would hate to make some stick at home during the weekend just for the draft.. so does anybody have any issue with doing the draft this Thursday Night at 8PM server time... let me know if any of you guys have an issue with that I know some of you said weekends were best and if non of you mind then we can do this weekend coming up if you don't mind the weekend.. just let me know Thursday, Sat or Sunday...

Ok guys any thoughts on draft day? I am liking the following 2 options because most of us should be around on saturday because of exp time but I hate to waste quality weekend time:

Thursday 8PM
Saturday Noon

I will be dropping those top 2 teams today unless I get 2 new members fast.

ok we have a taker on ranger's team IA will be doing it but we still need 1 more for Mem's team... go find us some recruits guys.. it is free and their may be a small to large payout at the end for the winner...

I think we will do the draft on Thursday @ 8PM server time if you can't make it try to get your predraft setup but if not it's not a big deal the site auto drafts for you and it doesn't do that bad of a job.. I just did a draft and my power went out in the 4th round and the last half of the draft was auto done for me, stupid power... Sorry colts fan I know you voted for Thursday but I hate the colts so couldn't side with you, haha, just kidding that wasn't the reason I had enough votes and requests for weekdays and the weekend requests all told me they didn't care so weekday won...

Also I changed the lineup so we will have 20 man teams and more starters, I think it adds more room for error...

ok changed my mind, I put IA as the second owner on Mem's team so we just need a replacement for Ranger's team... I think if we don't find one then we can just play with 11 teams and I can delete ranger's team, I will give it till wed to find another team but I am going to schedule the draft now...

Ok I have the league set so it shows valid since we are still waiting on Zoglog[T] to accept.... I hope he accepts soon and I will delet my self as the secondary owner of the team. if draft time comes and he hasn't accepted I will place him on auto draft till he accepts.

Sorry, had some big things going on in real life but I'm in now.
Seems likely that I'll have an auto-draft for at least most if not all the players due to work commitments at that time (I only found them out today).
Will definitely be interesting as a UK participant who doesn't follow NFL although do like fantasy sports :)

I spend hours and hours keeping up with this stuff :P

I have it in my head, who's suspended, retired, hurt, Playing well, stinking and who's going to be the future (which is why I prefer keeper leagues vs redrafting every year).
