Another evasion change idea (in General)

Ehh everyone seems to be throwing around ideas for evasion, and it sounded fun, so I figured I'd join the club! And it does seem as though evasion is overpowered, letting a mage neuter large amounts of Networth and large trained DX all at once.

Here's my idea(s):
1) Evasion would still add defensive DX. However, it does not reduce the PTH of weapons. To make it a viable option for mages/walls, don't let it be reduced by EC or Axbow. If you don't think it's that much better than DX, don't forget it also is better in ranged! Besides, if you want to lower PTH, use the original anti-PTH, DB's!!!
2) Change it so AoF has the same 3x effect on enchantments, but only 1x on skills trained. The whole point of this amulet always seemed to me to help/hurt a minion with spells- not make them uber-dodgey.
3) Have EB only effect DX, not skills. Or at least not evasion lol.

Or another idea would be to just rework evasion. Make it a copy of AMF of sorts. At the beginning of battle it shows Evasion Minion has evasion of (.40) against Sword Minion (equal DX and evasion). That could mean Sword minion would then miss 40% of the time against evasion guy. The dodge % could go up for each hit after the first too, idk.

Okay, that's all for now. I just like brainstorming, so don't hate me too much if you love/hate evasion or whatever. See you all around!

One idea i've always had is have evasion's effect scale negatively per point of AC. I've always thought Evasion should let you dodge attacks, but at the expense of safety: sort of a risk, like you can dodge more attacks than others but if you get hit, lookout! IMO, the idea of an Evasion "Wall" is just sinful. A Wall should not be able to evade.

Bad, it kinda does with with the Dex penalty heavy armour has. The Dex penalty also reduces skills by the same amount.

Personally, I don't see what the fuss is about. If you can't hit someone because of thier hellacious Dex/Eva, then just pour a ton of exp into EC and chain them to the ground ^_^

But seriously, I think that the idea of a percentile accuracy display per minion would be pretty cool, and the idea of attacks becoming less accurate over time would be more realistic, but at the same time, those damage soakers who don't deal much damage and rely on long battles, accurate attacks, and possibly even multiple battles for a victory would kind of be screwed, ya know?

GL: That would make sense if CB didn't have an abundance of items with not only no dex/skill penalty, but a significant BONUS to dex and skills while still granting AC. IMO, if you're trying to avoid a monstrous hammer being swung at your face, you better not have even the slightest piece of equipment to slow you down.

Bad, things like the Adam (which you really need for going for a heavy wall) have a 15% Dex minus. The stuff that grants Dex (while also granting AC) is magical in nature (usually Elven gear) and supposed to be lightweight and protective. ;)

BadFish August 6 2008 8:56 PM EDT

noted. However, you can get a substantial amount of AC from elven gear (granted, it's no 500 AC or anything, we're probably talking about 100 AC, tops without spending USD) But that's still a hell of a lot in my opinion if you also have the ability to dodge 90% of all attacks. IMO gear that grants dex/skill bonuses should be seperate from gear that grants AC without incuring dex/skill penalties.

Hardly anyone has an evasion wall with high AC. When people say evasion wall, they mean a minion devoted to blocking out tanks by training a very high evasion, this avoids the penalty of using the AoF.
