Any chance we could get the ability to moderate threads we create?
I realize it's a fair bit of programming to accomplish, but it would really help create an environment of debate instead of grand standing and argument.

i somewhat agree with this but it would have to be disabled for the Public Record forum to prevent scamming.
i would think the opposite would be true. imagine the evasion threads with the ability to delete any opposign arguments. the only recourse would be to then create your own thread with your side of the debate. unless i am missing something, i fell it would just add to the already too numerous "nerf so & so" threads.
The point would be to allow for debate with some semblance of order, and predefined contributors. It's not about deleting posts, it's about controlling who is posting so a valid point counter point style exchange can take place...
Think of it as a "You must be this ---- tall to ride" sign.
It's not that everyone opinion isn't valuable, but I think there are voices that sometimes get drowned out in the massive spam attack style threads.

I would think that players in this community would be mature enough to properly moderate threads, dudemus, rather than simply deleting any arguments to the contrary of their own.
I might be wrong, but I don't *think* I am...
well i tend to like the openness of our forums. at times i do pine for the days when jon would pwn someone though! he's too mellow these days.
; )
maybe not delete posts, but hidden them? so if someone want to see just a clean argument, then read all unhidden posts, otherwise you can go through everything and read all posts. :P
I think we should be able to edit our original posts in FS/WTB & Contests, with a tag letting people know it's edited.
With anything like this though there can be scams, but they won't get away with it so it does not matter.

Two things:
1) ROFL! dude.... I too miss seeing Jon lay out a good forum smackdown.
2)How about instead of deleting irrelevant posts we just hide them. Have the OP and then 'See hidden posts' and 'See irrelevant drivel' underneath. Not sure how easy that would be to do though.
I take it all back, the wiki does it better.
