About crap weapons (in General)

Think through the eyes of a CB newbie. Coming fresh out of the tutorial with like $400 CBD or some such. You see all these goals with rewards in the thousands! :o 10 minutes or so pass as you complete the goals, and you find yourself with an impressive pile of CB cash, so you walk into the weapons store. Tutorial told you to get the biggest baddest beast you could afford, and go figure, you can afford anything in the store! For those trying to really get into this "thinking like a newb" thing try to remember being 6 years old with a $5 in your pocket (*watches all the foreigners reach for their calculators and start working conversions like "we don't have any 3.31 Euro bills =/"*)...

So you come out of the store with your nice new shiny Great Axe. What a deal, too! It was only 25k and it has over 120k net worth! :o Score! omg... Can't beat anybody... Won one! :D Wait =/ What's this -70% Challenge bonus thing? :(

My point: (Finally?)If we must have them, can we reduce their sizes in stores? Like, to base? I mean, by the time you can afford to put a crap weapon to x3 or 4, you can afford a Katana/Exec/ES. Just some thoughts ^_^

i love that idea it might even be enough to get jon to make all items able to be blacksmithed disenchantable.

Sounds like a sound idea.

- Loved this part, Hatch.

I remember finishing my tutorial with a battle axe and an extra minion in hand. Plus OVER $300 IN CASH.

And to expect an NUB to match LA in MPR with that sort of beginning.... Makes me wanna cry.

Even if the tutorial set them off in the right direction, I still think it's difficult starting out after seeing the negative challenge bonus, many might just say oh well I don't get this I give up.

i just think it's funny cuz I happen to check the stores, and there's a 25k great axe in there... :P

Yea in all I think that New Players should evade the store and save their money. The high prices caused me to Evade the path of a fighter

A Compound Bow [5x50] (+31) $266,786

That, too.

I know Jon said he likes all the weapons, as it gives new users a feeling of accomplishment when moving up thorugh them.

But check the AH. There's a near base Kat on there for 15K. Why spend 25K on a Great Axe?

There low end weapons are now not only useless, but a detriment to new players and a sort of newbie trap.

Why do we have them all again? And does any new player *really* feel any sort of accomplishment from moving up thorugh thier Ranks?

Does any Mentor actually advise new players to buy that Tulwar or Great Axe? Or just go get a Kat, which has the added benefit of being able to be disenchanted.

Three base Kats have recently gone for 2,700 each.

I still say put limits on weapon upgrades, increase base cost dramatically and based upon the weapon base itself, and voila! Those weapons are useful again.

How about this:

"A Morgul-Hammer [84x1] (+0)

Net worth: $7,603
Net worth is a measure of how much has been spent on upgrades, not of market value.

Help: Morgul-Hammer
Bids

* $253,575 bid by Central Bank (Mr. Chairman) on Jul 29
* $250,000 bid by [Back]Borgin (Dominus Rex) on Jul 28
* $230,000 bid by Overkill (Qponec) on Jul 29
* $100,000 bid by Overkill (Qponec) on Jul 29"

Kind of makes a tulwar a waste of space...
