HoC, FB, MGS and Ranged Damage Penalties (in General)

I've recently fought a single FB mage a couple of times (I lose without inflicting damage, never getting to Melee) because I've noticed somethign odd witht he ramp up in damage I'm getting from Ranged to the Ranged "First round of Melee" the HoC gives.

I've got no AMF, and little AC. Only my MGS to protect me.

In the first 5 Ranged rounds, I'm taking 20-30K (sometimes 40K in a round or so)in each of those rounds.

But when it hits that 6th round, the Damage always jumps to 70-08K, around, if not over twice what I've been receiving in Ranged.

Is this correct? The jump up in damage looks to be too much, when it should be only 10% more than the last round of Ranged.

It looks like FB is beating some kind of threahold on my MGS, and it's not giving it's reduciton. :/

The last round of ranged for magic gets melee damage if a HoC is involved.

Yeah, but that's only a 10% increase to the previous round isn't it?

Why then, am I seeing the 'Ranged' damages double (or more) going from the 5th to the 6th Ranged round?

With a Helm of Clearsight 58%/55%/52%/49%/46%/0% reductions in rounds 1/2/3/4/5/6 respectively

So almost double damage in HoC-enabled round.

This looks normal. If I recall correctly, mages start with a pretty hefty penalty to damage in ranged. This penalty is reduced per round, and is reduced drastically in the first melee round (last HoC ranged) probably because of the end of the across the board ranged damage penalty that hits both mages and tanks.

In the last round the mage was operating at 100 percent efficiency, significantly less than that in the round before it, and slightly less than before in each consecutive earlier round.

The huge jump is because of the 40% ranged damage cut from way back when.

Yeah, not just mages take that hit, I don't think, ranged in general (at least for the most part...)

Ranged takes a 40/40/40/40/40/40 penalty in rounds 1/2/3/4/5/6 respectively. but they've also got other penalties to worry about :P

Oh.... I hadn't realised Ranged had taken *that* much of a damage hit compared to Melee.
