Where is (ranged) tank blender ? (in General)

Yukk September 5 2008 3:31 PM EDT

I've seen so many posts from mage team owners complaining that CB has forsaken the mages and become an instant tank blender (specially for ranged focused teams) so how come when I search FS/WTB or auctions, I find ELBs for 800k and others selling off some of the largest SoDs in the game. When it comes to mage gear, it's hard to find. Spellboosters which give a measly +3% FLAT, non-upgradeable bonus to DD are going for upwards of 3M.
Shouldn't the market be flooded with sales of mage gear from those switching to the new uber strat ? Or are all these cries of foul and complaints of nerfage just so much hot air ?

umm, perhaps it is still change month in our multiverse and we are awaiting other changes before making changes of our own or buying or selling gear? if that is not the case then i am sure that you are correct and mages are still overpowered and need major nerfage!

The simple fact that tanks still cost boatloads of money still holds true. Weapon prices have been steadily sinking for awhile now. Base weapons are WORTHLESS. Only the NW in them matters.

See, with mage items, relatively little NW gets you to a really high effect before the upgrade costs gets stupid. So of course the base cost will be far more expensive.

Secondly, as -everyone- is currently yelling at everyone else has said, changemonth is not over. No one is reinvesting millions until the seas have settled.

*snorts* Can't have it both ways. You can't tell every evasion user to wait for changemonth to be over and with the other side of your face tell us that it's OBVIOUSLY not that bad because we're not all rushing off to become tanks.

Pick one.

It'll be a while before I switch over my strat now that I've gotten firmly mixed up in running a mage team. Plus I think we're all just waiting to see what Jon does about ranged damage.

You guys are all right, but the fact that mage gear is still selling for boatloads of cash still hints to me that mages aren't quite dead yet.
GW, I don't know where you got the idea I was telling people stuff out of the "other" side of my face. I use evasion. I haven't even entered the evasion discussion. People have plenty to say without my help :)

I think the cost will still be prohibitive to switch to tank. I've spent most of my CB time running tanks and to be really effective you need to spend. It's easier than it used to be in the old days when the weapon X upgrades were priced in a similar fashion to the PTH, but it still costs...

seriously, i think that no one really fears jon will leave mages unplayable. if he didn't think he could bring better balance to the game, then i am sure he would've left it alone and while some people would enjoy being uber at the cost of others being fodder, if there isn't balance, the fodder won't stay around long and the game would likely die or dwindle into internet obscurity.

Eh. I really didn't mean you. Just wanted to address this line:

Or are all these cries of foul and complaints of nerfage just so much hot air ?

2 main reasons i see
1)Cost, NW = power
2)ToE, If you can't get your weapon big enough(or your opponent is one of the people with a 4m+ ToE) you're doing horrible damage

It's way to costly to switch strategies, plus it's still changemonth
