SoC Clarification (in General)

For Shield of Capacity, does it still backlash the damage even if the minion using the shield dies? And if I had an SoC on a 20 hp minion and it takes 100k damage, does it backlash the 100k into 200k damage (from the double damage return) or does it return 20 hp worth of damage (40 dmg)?

Brakke Bres [Ow man] September 17 2008 7:01 PM EDT

If the minion dies so does the ability to strike thus the flash doesn't take place. Don't forget you need to hit a minion with a hammer class weapon before you can return the absorbed damage.

So that would be 0 damage returned

If the minion survives 5 rounds of taking 5k damage each for a total of 25k it would return 50k.

Ok, so putting a base hammer weapon on a SoC user would be pointless if you cannot hit the enemy because the damage wont backlash?

# For each enhancement (+) the SoC absorbs an average of 0.5% of physical damage received.
# Secondary Effect: The absorbed damage can be returned on the next hit if you use a Hammer Class weapon

What is the doubling of the damage?
The only double damage off hand is the MoD and that's against AS.
Other than that, the SoC just makes it so that you can return the damage absorbed.

j'bob, here

Ok... I got it. I misunderstood what I read back when that thread was new. I thought jon was saying that he doubled the amount of damage that the shield would absorb (it went from .25 to .5).
And I see that the wiki has now been updated... but "twofold" ? Really?
Come on now. ;p

Cube September 17 2008 7:29 PM EDT

Jon actually did both and that's the confusion.

Twofold just fit there... and it's a cool word =).

Flatcap [East Milwaukee Devival] September 17 2008 7:46 PM EDT

if the minion dies that round and does not hit it will not return the damage. If the minion hits and dies it WILL return the damage. With a base weapon equipped it will hit for the paltry base weapon damage plus the stored damage plus the flash. if you have a base blunt weapon on and a ranged weapon the flash will happen for every hit in ranged where it would return damage but the stored damage will not return until the blunt hits.

3D September 17 2008 7:48 PM EDT

What is this 'flash'? And Flatcap, I'm not sure I follow. It will return the damage in ranged if you use hammer class weapon, but it won't use the stored damage?

Brakke Bres [Ow man] September 17 2008 8:17 PM EDT

BTW how does the SoC work with PL?

Because PL takes damage away, would the SoC flash?

Flatcap [East Milwaukee Devival] September 17 2008 8:24 PM EDT

yup umm from what I've seen PL absorbs modified damage so it would be after the reduction from the shield so you still get the flash bang boom

Flatcap [East Milwaukee Devival] September 17 2008 8:30 PM EDT

oop actually I'm wrong it does return the absorbed damage.

The Drunken Bomber's shield flashes! [143,256]
The Drunken Bomber hit Tigger [141490]
Pooh Bear looks clumsier!
Pooh Bear absorbs damage [141490]

The flash is the reflected damage from the shield. the hit is from a x100 Axbow wich normally hits for around 14000. So yep I was mistaken it will return damage during ranged. It's probably not supposed to be like that but hey ya know

Colonel Custard [The Knighthood] September 19 2008 9:51 AM EDT

Whoa, dude! Axbow returns SoC damage? I think that needs to be brought up and addressed.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] September 19 2008 10:15 AM EDT

I've mentioned it a couple of times. ;)

Does SoC effect Junction?
